I still think we will win the league

As an arsenal fan I still think City are favourites as you have experienced players who have been there and done it before unlike our team. Also arsenal have way too many players out injured but I still think we'll give you guys a run for your money.

We are in exactly the same position after 19 games as we were at the same point last season (3 points off top).

Yaya then left and we went to pot.

Yaya is not going anywhere this year and we do not have a firing Chelsea with a quality manager in front of us.

There is no excuse for this squad, especially with our best players getting back to fitness to not go on from here and win this league.

The problem with that is most of the big teams from last season have regressed, we have brought in two players over £50 million a piece plus others, had what many were saying was a near perfect transfer window bringing in all of our main targets and not losing anybody noteworthy yet still find ourselves in the same situation as last season. That's not good enough, nobody should be happy with our current situation. We've stagnated this season, possibly even regressed and whilst the situation we're currently in is not a disaster as the happy clappers will constantly cling on to it doesn't mean we should be happy with it.

You often hear people on here say we can't moan at being 3rd and in the running for 4 competitions because we used to be shit. But, when we were shit, we were relatively happy with the team as long as they played to their potential, if their potential still wasn't good enough and we got relegated at the end of the season or we couldn't score a goal for months then we accepted it but if we were a lot lower than we should be given everything we had available then the fans voiced their opinions and rightly so.

I don't see why this should change just because the sticks have moved and we're now a club that is capable of winning trophies on a bad day. We're a side that, this season, is hugely under performing and are nowhere near the level we could and should be, just because we're still 3rd and in with a shout of 4 trophies we shouldn't automatically overlook these problems. At the top you need to be constantly striving to improve,we should not be accepting poor performances and poor management on the basis of still being better than most at their best.

The manager is still the same from last season and that is the route of all our problems.

The big flaw in that logic is that progress is expected to be linear, when in football it never is. We buy two 50 million pound players and yes they will improve our side but to expect them to make a 100 million pound impact within the first three months of joining is naive in the extreme. There's a litany of examples of players moving clubs and needing an entire season before truly settling in.

Also can't help but laugh at the idea that we're "hugely under performing and are nowhere near the level we and should be". That's a totally subjective characterisation of something which can't really be measured. Under performing compared to who? And if we're nowhere near the level we should be what is the level we should be? Can it be measured in possession, in shots, touches in the opposition box, goals scored, goals conceded? What is the correct metric. And if the correct metric is simply the league table then how far ahead should be if we're currently nowhere near the level we should be.

The sides at the top have regressed maybe, but the sides below have improved in Stoke Spurs etc have some cracking players it seems on Bluemoon no body ever gives credit to anybody else but just look at the negative in City whether it be board management or players

For what it's worth here's my two penny worth. We currently sit 3 points behind Arsenal & Leicester, in my view the only realistic rivals for the title would be those two, Tottenham & possibly Liverpool & at a stretch the rags.
This Arsenal have no experience of closing out the league title, they may benefit from an early exit from Europe but I can't help but think they are currently playing to their maximum but to maintain this till May is unlikely.
Leicester have punched way above their weight but teams will work them out in the second half of the season, if they lose key players I would doubt their ability to graft out results.
Spurs are sneaky outsiders but they may struggle with the Europa league schedule & should Kane miss many games it could impede their progress.

Half a season gone & after the first 5 games we have played poorly with a slow tempo, the biggest problem we have imho. The side has been ravaged by injuries thus far. Of course we can win it, it really depends on us, forget the others, if we perform anywhere near our norm we should go on a strong run, I understand that we have played the sides in the top part of the table away from home with all our main rivals to come to the Etihad. For these reasons I firmly think that we SHOULD win the league.

Pretty much sums it up for me.
