Yes, I dont get people. He can pass but usually just doesnt make those direct through passes because thats not his job. His job is to take the ball away and pass it to the 2 CMs in the middle namely Yaya and Barry. And he does that well. As long as we are winning Im not whining. :)

Essien, is very good on the ball, very quick, can shoot, scores goals, and creates assists.

All things de jong does not do.

I disagree with you about De Jong not being good on the ball as i think his distribution is good?
I agree he isn't the quickest player but neither was Keane, Gattuso and alike as there DM's not wingers?
As for goalscoring with all the money spent and the talent that's been drafted in i would be a bit worried if we had to rely on De Jong's goals and assists during a season?

Since he returned, we haven't conceded a goal with him in the side, winning two and drawing one.

He isn't there to create. We have plenty of players to do that. He's there to stop the opposition from scoring. And he does it better than anybody else.

Spot on, with De Jong in the side we have had 64% possession in both away games and against a side like Spurs thata quality. De Jong will always be the un sung hero in our side to fans that dont understand the game, i.e if everyone is going forward trying to score and create, who's mopping up the counter attack when the ball comes back at us???

De Jong is one of the first names on the team sheet for a reason. am suprised the OP dosent want Hart out the team, he does fuck all apart from stand between two white post, lazy bastard, he should be up the other end scoring diving headers from corners.

EVeryone is so absolute on this board. Certain games require different starting elevens. De Jong for some, Barry for others.
