I wish we hadn't sold Elano.

nah Pam, Brazilians are a waste of space in Prem.

I agree with this! apart from Juninho i think all have been flops and if they haven't been flops they've had too much to say for themselves or unsettle teams!

Vincent Kompany came to our supporters club a few weeks ago and someone asked about reported bust-ups within our squad and he said, and I quote (off the top of my head quote as I don't remember word for word, but then why say 'and I quote'? fuck it can't be arsed gon back and deleing it now i'm in the flow); "well I wouldn't like to name names but people who were causing problems are no longer with City!" someone asked I that was Elano he was talking about and he replied, with a smile "ha, I wouldn't like to say!"

Tells me everything!

even Alex at Chelsea who seems to play with a lot more effort than any other Brazilians I've seen in the Prem, is always moaning about not starting all the time!

I don't think we have enough creativity in that team. Might it have been wiser to keep Elano to give us more attacking options?

It is the fault of Hughes.
NOT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE HAS GONE ALONG WITH THE OTHER WASTERS.

Oh no, not another Elano thread. The guy was a waste of space, awful attitude, and could not cut it in this league. Overrated by some many City fans. And all this "Mancini would have got the best out of him" is bollocks. Did he get the best out of Robinho? No, some players you can't get in their head, and anyone who watches us will know that its a central, deep lying, creative player we need, and Elano was not that at all. He was actually tried there by Hughes, but he does not have the physical attributes or work ethic required for that role. Player should just get over Elano, he was here and he failed, hence why he is gone.

well he's in the europa league with the only turkish side that has won it.

and surely the aim of elano's frustration was Hughes, who picked, he scored 3 goals in 2 games and then he was dropped. He wasnt handled particualy well. He may well of caused trouble, but Hughes created the divide with poor man managment!
He wast the only one who didnt like the manager, petrov is of a similar attitude and he's still here. As for failing he still gave us 8 goals last season, and did he not finish the season with consective MON performances?

and the point of the post, is the team lacks creativty, he gave the side that. For brazil he plays on the right, as he did at the end of his city career and looked good. He can pass better than anyone in the side now! We do miss that something extra in the middle.

Just because he's playing in the Europa League doesn't make him special. You named 2 Man of the Match performances, I could also give you a ton of games where he did nothing, including under Sven. 8 goals a large slice of those were penalties, just because you scored a penalty doesnt mean you had a good game. Yes we do lack a bit of creativity, but Elano is not the answer in any shape or form. With creativity you have to have a bit of work ethic to go with it, and he had zero.

I agree with this! apart from Juninho i think all have been flops and if they haven't been flops they've had too much to say for themselves or unsettle teams!

Gilberto Silva, is a rare Brazilian that has done well in England.

If we're ever going to be successful we need to get over this 'if they don't run about a lot, and tackle everything that moves, they're not good enough' attitude. It's holding us back. A successful team needs it share of workers, course it does, but it also needs it's share of quality players who are going to do the opposition damage. It's up to the manager to come up with a system/blend that accomodates both.

I'd have him back in a heartbeat I'm sure under Mancini as under Sven Elano would have flourished

He would have been brilliant under mancini. We didn't get a chance to pair up tevez and elano , with Elano playing behind tevez

Like Robinho was brilliant under Mancini?

Its funny how Elano is only rated by City fans, I didn't see any big clubs in January or the summer queing for his signature.

Well this is a topic that hasn't been done to death, great to see the weekly thread trend still going strong though.
Stay tuned tomorrow for next instalment of "Why oh why did we not sign Daneil Van Buyten".

strongly disagee there p. brazilians are usually only good when there s a team of them.i haven t seen any for ages, in other words good brazilians who can actually play in the english prem` are far too rare(de silva-gunners).
robinho has pledged his future to santos(bbc) like he did here on arrival- he knows he is full of shit! elano is an in-house-RAT! no more samba football muck
.... i want to see players who will fight to win their place and sit patiently until they otherwise get their chance.... they must show this when wearing our jersey. we are not a team but a squad who must get used to winning,no more set backs.

I just want to be clear about this. Is the consensus that we shouldn't sign any more Brazilians, whoever they may be? It's just that I don't remember many voices saying Ronaldinho or Kaka 'couldn't hack it'.

LOL, how many people are going to come out with this pure shite just so they can slag off Robbie even more???

Mancini has worked with him for less than a month and says he would love to have him back at the club.
