I wish we were out of the Europa

It is clearly the poor relation to it's neighbour the CL but i'd much rather win it and get European recognition than the Carling Cup. People have asked me if i'd rather win the league or the Europa - i'd take either at this moment in time if it opens floodgates for the next decade.

I dont, any cup will do me just aslong as that fucking banner goes, cant wait to put up a 1 year banner at eastands in 2013

Europa League Prize money

As of 2010–11, UEFA awards €2.1 million to each team in the play-offs round. For reaching the group stage UEFA awards €3.9 million, plus €0.55 million per group match played. A win in the group is awarded €0.8 million and a draw is worth €0.4 million.

In addition, UEFA pay teams reaching the first knockout round €3.0 million, each quarter finalist €3.3 million, €4.2 million for each semi-finalist, €5.2 million for the runners-up and €9 million for the winners.[6]

A large part of the distributed revenue from the UEFA Champions League is linked to the "market pool", the distribution of which is determined by the value of the television market in each country. For the 2008-09 season, both Manchester United and Bayern Munich, who reached the final and quarter-final respectively, earned more than Barcelona, who won the tournament.

Along with the improved coefficient... this isn't to be sniffed at.

Did you notice the entire stadium doing the Poznan on Saturday? What a fantastic moment and if it hadn't been for us playing them in a certain tournament you don't want us competing in, it would never have happenend.

And even if we win the Europa League, we then play the Champions League winner in the UEFA Super Cup. Not only does the winner of that receive €50m and the loser receives €10m, but I think it will be very interesting to see how we compare against the winner of the CL this season, whether it be Barca, Madrid etc.
Did`nt realise there was so much money involved in the super cup, jeez no wonder the sky4 have been able to lord it over the rest of the league for years, whats the prize money for reaching the later stages of the Europa cup ?

To be honest, neither did I. €60m being handed out in one game seems a lot, so not sure if that is the actual sum, but I read it off what looks like a reliable website.

I think the Europa League is our best opportunity of winning a trophy this season, hence I'd hate it if we went out of it. I actually think we have a very strong chance of winning it. We can win the Europa League this season, and then build on that to win the league next season. Also, if we win the Europa League we get the chance to win the Super Cup as well.

I don't care what anyone says, the Europa is too long winded. It is designed to make money and it is often spectacularly boring....

Then again, we ARE boring, boring City I suppose.

I really want to win it.
If only so that we can be the first English team to complete a Cup-Winner's Cup+Uefa+ European Cup treble, next year!

Not that I'm all demanding now that things are looking good again, you understand...
