It comes from wanting the guy to do well, because most kids on here start wanking over City players as soon as they have signed. That enthusiastic semen then clouds judgement later on.

I thought the party line was that it takes £16m internationals at least a season to find their feet in England?

Well it took Nani at least 3 seasons (and I think the rags paid about 11 million)so if it only takes him a season to get fully used to the pace of the premiership then that's good going.

Lets face it it does take some players longer to adjust its just that City fans appear unwilling to give any player the time to settle before writing him off.

Personally i think he's good.

I can't help but feel people perhaps have slightly unrealistic expectations of full-backs.

There's a few exceptional ones out there sure, but is there any other position where a player is expected to combine so many different aspects of football into one skill set?

That's the beauty about football, all about opinions, But I would question how often you have watched Leighton Baines if you think he is a potential future left back for us. I've probably seen a dozen or so of Everton games featuring him and he is dire. He's had a couple of good games against Chelsea and against us and that's it. I would take Kolarov every single time.

spoke to dozens of City fans that would like to see us in for Baines, very underated player, I have to ask , Why does he have to have International caps ?

I've been watching Baines for at least 5 years back when he was at Wigan and playing for England under 21s so I'd imagine I've seen him at least 10 times in the flesh and double that on the tv. In that time I've never seen anybody give him a real runaround defensively and on top of that the lad has a cracking left peg and his a really good crosser of a ball. He's a very underrated player imo
