IAAF World Championships 2017

W wot even mention the switching of heats for the South African athlete and next poster boy of the IAAF to make things a little easier for him before they eliminated his only threat.........

He went to the doctor, not the other way round.

It's funny how the three people who've posted their 'theories' about Mo Farah, Jess Ennis and now this, have shown absolutely no interest in this thread before or since.

It's as if they're only interested in attention seeking conspiracies...

IAAF statement on Makwala:

The IAAF has received a written request from the Botswanan federation for Isaac Makwala to compete in the 200 metres.

Given his quarantine period expired at 14:00 hrs today (9 Aug) and following a medical examination which has declared him fit to compete, we have agreed under our existing rules that assuming he makes the qualification time, he will run in the 200m semi-final round this evening.

Makwala is required to run a time of 20.53 or faster to advance to the semi-finals. He will run at 18:40hrs this evening on his own in lane 7, which was his original lane draw in the opening round.

No athletes already qualified for the semi-final will be adversely affected.

At least there some glimmer of hope for him.

It'll be hard running a 200m time trial on his own but he's good enough to get that time, just has to forget about the later round and go for it.

Hope everyone in the stadium proper cheers him on.

After all this he'll fail to get the time now.

Well done to Makwala, got that qualifying time, tough lane for the semi final (lane 1) but he's good enough to qualify from there.

Thats great to see Van Niekerk clapping him in the athletes chill out zone. Athletics is lucky they've got such a class at the top of his game now Bolt has gone.

This flags thing is a bit half arsed in the medal ceremonies.

Couldn't they just raise them to the stadium roof?
