Ibra

With all due respect, if City continue to play 4-5-1, how is the squad going to comfortably accomodate Tevez, Adebayor, Ballotelli, Ibrahimovic along with attacking players such as Silva, Johnson and Milner (assuming Robinho and Roque Santa Cruz are sold and Ibra and Milner are signed)? Something's gotta give, surely City should be looking at more defensive players if they are to buy at all?

Barca deny ibra/robimho swap deal claim

Barcelona have denied agreeing a swap deal with Manchester City involving Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Primera Division champions have rubbished claims made on Spanish radio that City's Brazilian forward could be set to move to the Camp Nou, with Ibrahimovic heading to Eastlands in a combined offer.

But Barca vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu admitted the club will monitor Robinho's activity and has not ruled out the club tabling a reported £17million bid for the former Real Madrid ace.

"We have been working in the market for many months with some names but the decision of Guardiola is (to buy) the young players for the squad and the club accepts this decision," he told Catalan newspaper Sport.

"That doesn't mean that by the close of the transfer window we will not have made a signing, if there is a good option."

The Catalan supremo dismissed speculation that Roberto Mancini had tabled a bid for Ibrahimovic, insisting: "Until today, Manchester City not have placed money on the table for the sale of Ibrahimovic."

£20,000,000 cash plus Robinho for Ibrahimovic.

---------------TEVEZ---IBRAHIMOVIC-----------

Wow that would be immense. If that were to happen we would definately get rid of Jo and Cruz leaving us with:
Tevez, Adebayor, Ibrahimovic and Balotelli (U21)
in the final squad.

Thats the key statement for me.... doesnt rule it out just means we have placed a bid.

If he joins you'll be glad to know he's looked about a 100% more athletic than his last season at Inter and about 10000% more athletic than he did last season.

It's really, really unlikely you will ever see Roberto paying over the odds for any player above 25 though and I doubt Ibrahimovic will be an exception to the rule. Perhaps if they offered him on a loan he would consider paying the wages, but that's about it. Maybe - maybe - if the offered him on a deal significantly lower than what they paid or something where City could get rid of Robbie in the process - he'd MIGHT make an exception.

Ex:

Julio Cesar - joined at 25.
Maicon - 24.
Ibrahimovic - 24.
Kolarov - 24.
Silva - 24.
Balotelli - 20.
Boyata - 21.
Milner - 24.

... all relatively unestablished (at the time) and highly talented. Hernan Crespo (at 31) came on a loan and was later hired on a free. Etc. Buys like RSC I couldn't imagine happening in a million years.

It's a translation thing. I'm pretty sure they were saying they hadn't received any bid at this point in time.

-- Tue Aug 17, 2010 12:06 pm --

I'm not impressed by any of those videos.
He dosnt look like anything special at all, this talk of 30m + robbie would be unbelievably bad.

Wouldnt pay more than 25m total and thats assuming robbie is worth roughly 15m.

Balotelli & Tevez > Ibra

While personally I prefer that we consider Dzeko; swapping Robinho for Ibra could actually be a winning bargain/gamble for both teams!!!
