Interesting what-if. If he hadn't said anything, stayed on for the rest of the season and City had been let down by Mourinho, would he have still been here?

If he had come fourth, yes. Do I think we would have come fourth under Hughes? It's difficult to say, but the poor run that preceded his sacking suggests not.

Personally, I would have let him have the rest of the season - Mancini was never going to excel coming in halfway through the campaign. We should have stuck with Hughes, and if we had come fifth then immediately sacked him and let the next guy have a full pre-season.

Some of you think mancini is doing a bad job ,the team lies 4th,he has not been able to put out his first team yet. players suspended ,injured blending them together. When I first started watching City a guy called Les Mcdowell was manager, everybody was after his head then another called George Poyser . Now they were not so clever. And anyway who do you want to replace him?. Give the guy some time ,its bad enough with the press on everybodys back. 6 points behind the leaders ,3 points ahead of 5th place come on fellas give the guy a break !

its absolulty paramount we stick with the manager till at least the end of the season, even though we have at times been dire you can see shoots of improvement.

leave well alone i say.

I can assure you he won't be going before the end of the season, and until Mourinho wants a change from RM, if ever, I would not want us to sack another manager and replace him with another gamble, the game this season has shown us all that it is very hard to play at a consistent level, every game, all the top teams have had big hiccups, Arsenal home to WBA, Chelsea to Sunderland, Yoonited drawing more than Mark hughes teams !
Mancini's job is very much harder, because we have a team that is relatively new, a team needs a couple of years playing together to get that understanding, it will come, if we don't keep changing managers

For some reason some people can't get this into their thick heads!

If Roberto were an unmitigated disaster I would advise that we hung on to him to avoid getting Benitez. I have never got worked up over City managers - soon as one had his feet under the managerial table, he would be on his way out. But I would make an exception with Rafa. I could not generate any enthusiasm were he to get the nod. Best if he slunk back to Spain.

Since Trapattoni left Inter in 1991 they have had 20 changes of manager. If Inter get rid of Benitez so quickly then it shows how well Mancini did to last 4 seasons.

best manager we have ever had.......I'm well happy with Mancini..............................................

hahahaha

We've had best manager since Joe Mercer, best for the last 50 years and now this gem.

Hilarious.

Manchester City under Joe Mercer -----

Second Division Title winner: 1965–66
First Division Title winner: 1967–68
FA Charity Shield winner: 1968
FA Cup winner: 1969
FA Charity Shield runner-up: 1969
Football League Cup winner: 1969–70
European Cup Winners' Cup winner: 1970

Trophies why's he's not up there with the very best managers........

But in a Manchester City perspective he was a god and the best manager we ever had!

I feel Mancini will become the best manager we ever had, giving time he could double the amount of Trophies Joe Mercer won..............

I cant help but think to myself atm...

What could Ian Holloway do with our bankroll. hed take none of this media bullshit nor the player bullshit.

The man to the full extend of the word is a legend.

Id give an arm and a leg to have someone who cares so much about football manage city.
