if we finished 5th...

It depends. IF we were to lift a cup and get 5th he will and should be given another year with the team. Just look at the Europa League we should be looking to win it this year as with a fully fit team we have more than enough to do it. Same as the FA Cup.

IF we dont win a cup and fail to get 4th then he has to go. Look at the squad he has had if he cant get them to get a 4th spot then he would never be able to do it. I know it sounds harsh just look under him the players he has got rid of during his time Robhino , Ireland , Bellers and Ade all those players under a different manager maybe would of been still involved with the squad over we say Vieira , Jo and even Barry and Milner. He knows it is make or brake for him at the club and he is taking some risks with the form of Hart by backing Hart and the points he has cost us over the season could be what looses his job. So I think it depends on the up coming key games will he stick to his guns and continue to back Hart if he has another howler in the remaining games.

He should resign if we don't finish in the top four. I'm fed up of him failing at every important milestone so another failure would be to much to take.

There's no doubt he would and should be sacked, none at all.

The interesting and very possibly more relevant question is if he finishes 3rd or 4th and Jose is available , what will the sheikh do?

That's exactly what I was saying mate. Clearly Mancini would and should be sacked if we miss out, but no Champions League means no Jose.

What would the Sheikh do if we finished 4th and Jose became available? Surely he couldn't sack the Manager who had brought us our best finish in decades, and had secured us a Champion's League spot for the 1st time in our history.

An interesting predicament, for sure

Simple answer for me op. I put it on the other thread

It's a difficult decision but I'd also lean towards keeping Mancini.

Really, who would guarantee progress? Newsflash to the Mourinho lovers, he is not doing a great job at Real. Not only are they less entertaining than they were, they are worse off than under Pellegrini a year before and Mourinho is causing a lot of tension in the club.

Meanwhile, Louis Van Gaal is dropping his pants in front of his players and showing them his genitilia to prove his point as his Bayern Munich side sit 14pts behind Dortmund in 3rd (Europa League spot).

Hiddink? 3 wins, 3 losses since taking over Turkey.

Indeed! Who would replace Bobby? But Mancini also needs to improve. Since 1st December we've only played two teams higher than 10th yet dropped 1/3 of the points available in that time (10/30). And we have only played well once or twice in that time.

And look at the games left, Spurs have got more games and much less difficult games and are only 5 points behind us at present:

3.City: P25 Pts46 (+17)
5.Spurs: P24 Pts41 (+7)

City's games: WBrom(h) Rags(a) Fulham(h) Wigan(h) Chelsea(a) Sunderland(h) Liverpool(a) Spurs(h) Blackburn(a) WHam(h) Everton(a) Stoke(h) Bolton(a)

Spurs games: Bolton(h) Sunderland(a) Blackpool(a) Wolves(a) WHam(h) Wigan(a) Stoke(h) City(a) WBrom(h) Chelsea(a) Blackpool(h) Liverpool(a) Birmingham(h)

We play Spurs on Saturday 16th April!

We are good enough to finish fourth. We very well might finish fifth! We are really only the fourth or fifith best team (or collection of players as I don't think we're a team yet!) so it's about right. Everyone needs to forget about how much money we've spent or where we were in the league when we'd played more games than everyone else. This could well happen! That's why on those threads created a few weeks ago that said "would you still be happy with fourth?" I answered a strong YES because that is where we should be finishing and where I think we will finish. But I stress, it is conceivable that we might not!

The part in blue I agree with.
The part in red I'd have to say that look at the Spurs away and Arsenal away games, most other games and then look at Given who I think is liability and Hart is much better. I can only think of Blackburn at home and Birmingham away where Hart has made point costing mistakes. That's a lot less than the outfeild players missing chances or not creating them which loses us points.

I have always wanted to ask you this , what if Jose doesn't do well? Who would you want then?

And don't give me an argument that Jose is GUARANTEED to do well.No one is guaranteed to do well.

Spurs and Arsenal game apart Joe hasnt been to the standard he was last season. Just look at his form since that Arsenal game it is questionable. Even Capello came out in the media saying that Joe needs to focus more than he has been. To be honest it wouldnt be a shock if Joe got dropped by Capello for the England game.
