if we finished 5th...

We aren't certain that no CL would mean no Mourinho....

What other options are there besides Mourinho? Mourinho's a great manager but I don't like him too much.

Look i like Mancini and i have said we progressed but is it enough progress considering money spent and players brought in. I would say one more season ddue to the fact these players need to knit. I think at this time of the season though that the double training sessions should be knocked on the head, the players look a bit jaded at the moment

Not read all the thread, only the first post so as to finish the ''...'' bit! But I would hazard a guess that if we don't finish in the top 4, Mancini would almost definitely be sacked. We had fourth spot in our hands last season, and fucked it up. Back then, I would guess that RM got another chance due to him being in the job for less than 6 months and not having had a chance to assemble HIS squad. Those excuses are gone now, and I'm sure he realises that. I don't think that even winning a cup would save him if we finished fifth. However, fourth (and even third) are still very achievable and would render this hypothetical situation meaningless. We have to get back quickly to the form we were showing in Nov/Dec time, and that is down to RM. Send out the right players, stop changing the defence every game and let them off the leash. We have the players, we have to believe we can do it.

If I'm correct, that would only happen if the fifth placed team (likely Spurs? Hopefully!) went on to win the CL, like Selfpitypool did in 2005. Can't see Spurs winning the CL though. Now if Chelsea were to finish fifth, I'd be more concerned!

He said Europa League but the new rule is the winner qualifies and 4th place is void!!!

I'm a bit stunned by the thread subject given that we're just over half way through the season and bang on track for 4th place or possibly better. . .
Lots of things 'might' happen (earth might be blown to dust by impact with a rogue comet) but you'd need to be in quite a dark place to sit around thinking about such horrors.

The old adage that 'a hero dies once whilst a coward dies a thousand times' isn't perhaps a perfect fit but I do believe that most City fans are hero's at least in the sense that they hold a positive view of the future and generally steer clear of doomsville. . Solid support, even in the hard times, has proven that.

I say stop worrying about the sky falling in - cheer up and look at the positives. Be blue & be happy.

If we finish 5th then it means that Spurs and Chelsea will have finished in the top 4. So its irrelevant who wins the CL if they are in the top4 anyway.

... Hence why I said we'd be playing in the Europa League.
