I agree with your views regarding Gundogan but you do have the odd taste for hyperbole as well. ;-)
I think a lot of these endless discussions are caused by the fact that you all seem to have a strong focus on different phases of the game.
As an example... Your statements might seem very strange to somebody who is focussed on defence as something you do in front of your own goal.
We might spend most of our time far away from our own goal but it is still a very important part of the game when considering a player's positional prowess.
Gundugan is better at positioning than Fernandinho is just as untrue as it's counterpart because they are both better at different aspects of it.
You do s better job of expressing my position than I do. I think I'm just going to let you handle it from now on :)

I thought he was far too weak in the challenge against Choudhury which led to Iheanacho’s chance. And he should have brought Maguire down when he went on that run down the left wing.
That running to catch Maguire on the left was embarrassing I think Gundy must of been wearing cast iron boots filled with concrete. So slow I think Rick Holden would out pace him

Still talking about the Leicester match, many of our players with all their pace couldn't come near him in terms of performance. His brain outpaced them all.

No doubts about his ability, he’s a brilliant footballer but his desire to win the ball back is pathetic. He’s scared stiff.

Tbf to Gundogan, yes, he's absolute fucking shite at that job when it involves anything other than 'easy' but it's not his position.

It's just a position he's filling in.

David Silva wouldn't have done any better, apart from, he would have spotted the danger & kicked his legs from under him. Gundogan doesn't tend to see danger, just tries to 'nick the ball' & recycle it, which he's very good at.

With news about Fernandes it's possible that Gundogan has agreed to stay.

Which is a shame as I don't rate him as an elite midfielder.

Only plays well when other teams allow him to.

To be honest in a normal game I wouldn't want him diving in to take out Maguire. Herding him out to the sideline and waiting to take the ball off him if he makes a bad touch, or block any pass is probably the best way to deal with it. 9 times out of 10 Maguire loses it that way, and in the 1/10, we had 3 v 2 (would have been 4 if Walker tracked back) and you force them to take a very unlikely shot from outside the area.

I'd rather he save a yellow card for stopping someone who might be through 1v1 or stopping a proper counter attack where we've got no cover.

The main reason people freaked out was because of the situation in that game, where it felt like Leicester even looking at our goal was going to mean we conceded and lost the title.

I watched the game back earlier and while Gundogan did some nice stuff with the ball, defensively he was shocking. The two best opportunities Leicester had to score were both as a result of Gundogan being a fanny - First occasion saw Maguire brush him away like he wasn't even there and on the second occasion Choudry did similar....his powers of recovery being none existent.

A rolls royce of a player when we are in the ascendancy - probing and bullying....but a liability when the chips are down.
