Ilkay Gundogan - 2018/19 performances

An Arsenal player playing for Man City.
We'll definitely drop more points with him in the starting XI than without him.
Arguably Pep's favourite so might have to live with that but certainly upgradable in the summer.
Moves and plays like one on the wrong end
of 30..Would accept those kind of performances from Brahim/Foden.

He would fit into an arsenal team live a glove...doesnt have t guts to be present in the harder games.

Doesn't fit into a particular role with us either....creatively he is nowhere near KDB, Silva or others.

Defensively he is the weakest out of the lot of them

Basically a BTEC version of Alli/Müller..A 'goal hanger',which i think Pep likes in him,but he isn't even clinical enough and doesn't make the best decisions in the final third to justify being a passenger in games where things aren't going our way.Basically playing with 10 in such games.
Will always be fine vs the 'lesser' teams at home but that's not what it's all about for this/our level.

Pep does like the goal threat that Ilky possesses -he has said as much...however his deficiencies outweigh this contribution as you say

Lads can the idiots posting on here saying "he's like Sterling to City fans" please just do one.

This is the Gundogan thread. Literally nothing to do with Raz. If people are criticising him that doesn't mean "he's like Raz" and it's an idiotic statement. Some amazing whataboutery to try invalidate an opinion.

If anyone could be so kind as to show our stats when Gundo plays I'd appreciate it. Fact is we've lost and drawn most of our games(that we lose and draw) in the past 2 years when he does play. When he doesn't, we typically win.

People defending him are leaning on stats from yesterday. For me he had one key moment, and he blew that with a timid attempt.

Maybe, just maybe he should have played yesterday over Dinho to rest Dinho and leave him as a deep lying midfielder.

But he contributes sweet f**k all to our forward game and typically vanishes for chunks of games. I'd love to see his sprint stats too because he typically allows himself to be marked and isn't open in a way our other players are.

We're allowed criticise him when we can't beat a newly promoted team and he's a player that didn't take hold of a game. Most other players at least tried yesterday, he did what he does best.

What do you think people mean when they say, 'He's like Sterling to City fans'?

He's being criticised for the sake of it.

Which is a joke as Sterling had a phenomenal season.

Ilkay is in season number 3 here and the signs aren't great this year. He's played perhaps 6 decent games for us, and maybe 2-3 very good ones.

There is absolutely zero comparison to Raheem.
