Pep the bedwetter :)

Rodri is not that type of defensive midfielder. He controls the game, he is not your all action midfielder.
There is a widespread belief on here that promoting a consistently fulsome appreciation of Gundogan's talents indicates a poster with genuinely superior knowledge of the modern game. Those of us who rely on the evidence of his contribution in cruder terms like his impact on the match result, general involvement in attacking the opposition etc are clearly missing the point.

Definitely categorize this poster under A for Apologist. Most people know that Pep knows better than them and are willing to use their brain to try to understand why Pep wants him around and picks him in the starting XI. The other think they might know better than Pep and are unwilling to admit their understanding of the game might be limited and this might be a reason why they don't see the point of playing Gundogan.

Haven't got one and like you am just a humble observer. I've watched him in every game he's played for us and think he slows us down unnecessarily. We just seem to attack better and defend better when he isn't in the team. It's all relative of course - we still play very well when he is there, although more suited to a holding role. There has never been any occasion that I thought De Bruyne, Merlin or Bernardo couldn't do a better job further forward. I hesitate to mention Foden but there is a case to be made that his development has been hindered by Pep's preferences in this regard. No, just a humble one who knows he doesn't know much about football compared to Pep. What's your explanation of the fact Pep plays him? Let's see your brain at work.
