in the defence of the hughes outers

Is it really relevant whether City sides in the past would have been pleased with a point at Anfield? Snidey, most definately, but in the long run we shouldn't be basing our successes on what would have been a success or failure in the past.

What he said was true though...not sure how it can be interpreted as snide. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought the point he was making was that the team were disappointed with the point...

The "quote" grated on me though, straight away I thought, "your putting Citys past achievements down", even though your right, it probably was meant as "the team would be disappointed".

is it hughes?

Now the second reason and the more important reason of why I'd like to see Hughes fucked off is Dubai quote above. As i am genuinely terrified that Hughes is going to fuck this up for us, possibly the only chance we will EVER have of EVER having a great team in my lifetime. Seriously no matter how rich our owners are there's has to be a limit on there spending. From what i can tell though Hughes is pissing away loads of money.

Look at Lesscot the guy is not worth £25 mill, he might be a good player for us and an improvement on what we had eventually. Unless though he's a massive jump in quality over what he we already had he just does not justify the £25 mill price tag.

Then you've got Roque Santa Cruz, for christ sakes Hughes only spent around £3.5 mill getting him to Blackburn from Bayern Munich. Hughes thinks it right though to spend £17.5 million on the same player 2 years latter, a injured 28 year old player plagued by bad injuries his entire career.

Then theres the Tevez deal and if the figure of £47 mill is true. Mark hughes wants to be taken out into the desert of Abu Dahbi and introduced to the sheiks brother. So he can ram a cattle prod up his arse and beat the shit out of him with a plank with nails in it. For the love of god he might be a good player, a striker though that only has a goal average of less than 1 in 3 near enough his entire career just aint worth that kind of money. FFS he's lived in England for 3 years and the guy can't speak any English. Whats he going to do use sign language to communicate with his team mates on the pitch FFS. Come on thats got to drop the value on his price tag a bit.

Getting back to my original point anyway, i am terrified Hughes is going to blow all this money and the sheik is going to go right that's it I'm not putting any more money into city as its turning into a bottomless pit (i wouldn't blame him either). Then we will be stuck with Hughes a manager that i honestly don't think has the quality to take us right to the top and a team of massively overpriced players. That we can't get rid of without taking massive losses on them (even less value for all the investment into us).

Think about it just by wanting to break into the top 4 we're aiming at creating one of the best teams in the world. Does anyone anywhere think hughes is one of the best managers in the world and could be running the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Ac milan etc. ? . I sure as hell don't as i though he was a massively overrated manager even before he came to us or was even linked to us.

Fuckin brilliant post, I too feel your anguish...
Only lost 1 in the league so far (sounds good) but 6 points from the last 18 (is a fact and it's shit) FFS?
When you read these posts you can tell that WE are true City fans, been thru thick and thin but NEVER, NEVER in our lifetime have we had this chance and this kind of money and it's a crying shame it's passing us by.
But we have a second rate rag in charge of not just the team but the whole welsh infrastucture and it's NOT working ON THE PITCH. He and his backroom staff are NOT up to the job end of. Would any of the staff get a job at yooonited, Chelsea, Arsenal, Real, Inter, Barca WOULD THEY FUCK.

He'll be bringing his own sheep soon!!!!!!

Like Challenger I was against numpty for one reason, I though he was a p*ss poor manager who was up his own ar*e, and nothing has changed my mind since the day he walked into the job.

I not only dont think he will come good with time, because he is incapable of building a team even with unlimited funding thanks to his complete ignorance of how players interact and his adherance to his one tactic that has failed for the last two years* , but is damaging the club with every week he`s still in the job.

Your right about him splitting the fans, but the club is suffering as well, the most sucsessful youth team set up in the country has been broken up and filled with his cronies, the back room staff have suffered the same fate with even the club Dr going after many years because he sidded with a player who was injured to the chairman, and the club captain along with one of the best creative players in the world shown the door.

The story of how Jim Cassell came back from the UAE game last week to find his files dumped in the corridor has hit the media in this mornings papers, with yet more confirmation of the bitter dislike between Jim and numpty.

Do you think as an example that RSC is worth the money or a better bet than the Bodge who was getting back to full fitness?.

Numpty inherited a more than useful squad, with a few minor tweaks needed, instead he gutted the team and replaced...........has it worked?, do you see us as top four or better after 200 million quid?.

All he could ever do is reproduce blackburn in blue, a mid table team with the odd good result thanks to individual quality.

* The missing fullback formation with zonal defence, just think of how many goals against in the last two years seem to be a free effort from an unmarked player.......like Neil for liverpool yesterday with a missed header, not just set pieces, but open play where the defence moves over to cover one side.

For my two pennies worth, i think Hughes was never going to be accepted 100%. The first layer is his massive United links, then as people got to know him, his morose, tactiturn style is not appreciated by the majority. There is the first wedge.

The second wedge is the amonut of time he has been a manager. The first 5 years was part-time. The Welsh national manager's job will never fill a diary as there are only about 20 players worth looking at. The next few years were at low profile Blackburn. He had little money and "little ambition". Two relatively small jobs, obviously way to small for the intergalatic project going on at City.

The third wedge is OUR ambitions. We all want City to do well, however, what divides us is the speed and style in which the job needs to be done. Some want the job done yesterday, if not you have no ambition, others think it needs time, the "you cannot build Rome in a day" syndrome.

There is enough in there to split most fanbases, the answers as ever, with a complex set of problems will get 30 different answers from 30 people.

Unfortuantely, these battles will long continue until one of two things happens. Hughes wins something or we miss out on want the owners want. Publically they have said top 6, privately who knows.

At the moment Hughes is walking a very high wire, some willing him to fall, others willing him to get across. As a group, one thing should govern all decisions, what's best for City. And sadly, thats what divides us.

blueonblue, Challenger, de niro you are soooo right
Thank fuck there are some fans with some sense.
What he's done, not just to Dunnie, Elano, Cassells etc, but to the whole club is a crying shame.
Hughes, we should have a public flogging the useless Twat.
