He certainly seemed to live with his foot permanently wedged in his mouth, but then he wasn't employed as a spokesman or mascot; he was a Chief Exec, and a damn good one, at that. The fact that he was invited back for the QPR game to celebrate with us only months after being 'sacked' showed just how highly regarded he was at the club - not just for how he engaged with staff, players and fans, but also for how he oversaw our biggest leaps forward (compare the players signed under his tenure compared to those under the current Barca duo!).I don't; he was a constant source of embarrassment and utterly clueless at times
There's something about this Indie article that seems to ring true. There does seem to be an apathy around the club, a lack of enthusiasm and passion. Things seem almost superficial at times, particularly the fan engagement stuff (Inside City episodes dedicated to the misogynistic man-child KSI, or the painfully unfunny Kevin Hart). And I believe it's down to the shift from Cook/Mancini to Pellegrini/Soriano/Begiristain - the former were passionate, outspoken and seemed to 'get it', so it was easy to get behind them and the team; the latter are dour, distant and absent, and just don't seem as able to fire up the fans, players and staff in the same way.
