Independent Regulator Petition

Guys, I am not a lawyer and there a many on this site who can advise otherwise..from my knowledge as a doctor,it seems that there is what is called a conflict of interest..how can you represent a club and also be on UEFA panels and be impartial ? It is a total disgrace. I feel UEFA are the problem employing people with vested interests. Corrupt to say the least. Sadly Brexit may allow the rag to get away with it.

They’ll probably give him an advisory role to point the independent governance in the “right” direction.

On a serious note though - Whilst the issue is of concern - why can’t we write to UEFA FA etc objecting to his multi-role. Any ideas from those in the know, how this can be done. It’s a good time to do it in view of its topical nature
A uk petition will have no effect on UEFA where the real problem lies for English clubs. Look up their address and write to Cefferin, whose title etc is on their website. Urge that:
UEFA split governance from competition management and promotion. UEFA can appoint independent competition management co. to design and run comps, set co-efficients, decide on prize distribution etc in accordance with UEFA rules. This co to negotiate tv rights.Clubs may be consulted but will have no representation in the comp co.
All clubs to be equal in eligibility rules, no credits for historic performance, all entries based on previous season domestic results.
No preference in fixture time table for legacy clubs.(Currenly five ex G14 clubs decide timetable in smoke filled back room, once draw is made.)
Oh, and no increase in group matches which proposal will fuck up domestic football. For us, it probably means no league cup.
Finally, if legacy clubs threaten breakaway, let them try it.. Most domestic FAs looking at rules to sanction breakaway clubs and players.
UEFA as regulatory body may have representation from domestic FAs but not clubs, who can be consulted but will play no part in decision making. Funded by share of tv money.

What does it mean!?

if this happens can they say owners having interest in other clubs in the world needs to be regulated! Or clubs can only have buy so many young players because the interest is better for that youth player to stay at that club!

One thing that city being stitched up since we been bought out is it makes you very suspicious because when people have power self interest or manipulation are not far down the line!

maybe I’m wrong not sure!

An Independent Regulator would certainly unite football. Within a year everyone would hate him/her/them.

For a regulator to be effective there needs to be clarity on 1) what is the scope of the role? 2) what powers would the regulator have ?

Would the regulator only be involved in ”big picture” stuff such as the esl and club ownership? Or would they be involved in more detailed issues such as ticket prices and kick off times? Could they block takeovers? Could they refuse to ratify contracts between the television clubs and the PL if they weren’t fan friendly on matters such as rearranged matches. Or would they only be able to levy paltry fines? Who would hire or fire a regulator?

Its noticeable that the people pushing for an Independent Regulator have been incredibly vague on what the regulator would actually do. Unless there is a consensus on the scope and powers of the role it will never happen
