Inheriting 250k and a house

As mad as this sounds, I’m glad that didn’t happen to me in my 30s.

I would have made such a twat out of myself it’s untrue, and destroyed that money in no time.
 
Wifey works for a probate solicitor and says "it's complicated"
Look on line first for general advice and then seek a probate solicitor and pay a grand for them to sort it and a court fee of £300
It's really worth it
She worked for a client who inherited an estate of £1.2m and by the time allowances had been accounted for, tax (at 40%) was only payable on the 200k

 
We are very fortunate that a house valued at £300k is not going to be left to us for free but we will be able to buy it very soon for £90k.

As a family we are currently going through everything with a financial expert to make sure it goes as smoothly as possible.
 
Get some proper legal and financial advice.

Pay off your mortgage and any other debt.

Invest in property and some kind of long term stock like tracker funds.

And don’t tell anyone, you’ll get people asking to borrow money all the time.
