Insanity work-out

has anyone tried Shaun new DVD - Focus T25?

I am downloading it at the moment and might start as soon as tomorrow.

I've tried insanity before for a month but it's too much for my liking, kills my legs.
 
Are these DVD's all they are cracked up to be?

Have any of the regular gym lot tried them? If so what do you make of them?

I just don't think I would get the same personal satisfaction from working out in front of the TV compared to actually hitting the gym and lifting weights.

But to anyone who is making the effort to change their bodies and lifestyles - Well done and keep it up.
 
T25 requires a lot of co-ordination. A lot, almost like learning to dance.

And as for Insanity being all it's cracked up to be, yeah it is. As for the gym thing and lifting weights. These DVDs don't cost a monthly fee with shit changing rooms and grinning roidheads. But if you're looking to put on size, move past Insanity and look at two other programs this company does. P90X and Body Beast.

Sticking to fitness but shying away from Insanity for a moment, has anyone read Mark Lauren's You Are Your Own Gym? I ask because in conjunction with Insanity I have been jogging 15-20 km each day. However, in his book he warns against aerobic exercise as it only serves to waste muscle. A bit of a kick in the balls if that is the case.
 
I have to agree with the above if cardio is your sole exercise regime.

Resistance training is far better imo.The health benefits are great and you'll look far better.

Nothing wrong with cardio as a supplement to weights,it will help,however certainly prioritise the resistance stuff.

I have recently started GVT training(German volume training)

It covers muscle building and cv work as it involves performing 10 sets of 10 reps with a constant weight(usually 60% of 1rep max) with 60secs between those sets.

Ive been splitting my workouts over 4 days,every other day.....

mon - legs(squats)
wed - chest(incline db press)
fri- back(deadlifts)
sun - shoulders(overhead press)


Its brutal and needs dedication and plenty of effort but its very effective.
Use this method on compound exercises(squat,deads,press etc.) and I guarantee you'll see quick results.

Decent routine that,tues and thurs, stick some heavy bag work,skipping 3 to 5,3min rounds, then a twenty min run, and you would be cooking,
 
Yep,good additional stuff there Gary.

Just a quick word of caution...... The above workout is very hard work,i'd suggest if youre a beginner,concentrate on adaptation and gradually build up with bodyweight exercises initially then progress to a lighter weight on the above exercises (40-50% of 1rm) to get you started.

Adequate recovery and good nutrition are vital for max results.
 
Well, at least you know and have researched 'GVT' FI, someone I know misread it (and we're talking and experienced trainer here) and did 10 back exercises at 10 sets x 10 reps, spent half the day in the gym and the next two days in bed, fuckin lol.

Good routine though, used it in the past with walking on an incline in between sets to good effect, definitely an ego buster 'innit'.

70kg squats
90kg deads
25kg DB's
45kg OHP

I felt it!

No way you can get that big,cut unless you're on steroids.
 
SHB,that's kind of accepted,it's the world in which they exist.


However,I have seen some truly superb natural physiques built solely on hard,intelligent training,great nutrition and a lot of time.

Not bad going at all that mate, won't seem a lot to many but as you know, short rests and those last 3-4 sets are real killers, have done Vince Gironda's 'honest workout' before now which is very similar principle and was very much associated along the lines GVT.

Always worth a read mate, very much empirical based and often ridiculed (you'll be able to sift through the bits that are wrong ie emulsifying of egg yolks) but later backed up by science, and you may not like what he says about the back squat, ime for many he is correct though, but he advocated ketogenic/warrior/stone-age type diets 50-60 years ago for fat loss and he did have a genius level IQ, you'll find it interesting at the very least mate.

I've been doing this workout, although (I don't mind admitting) instead of 3 plate incline press, I've had 3 x 5kg on each side and then dropped down until I'm using just the bar, also I simply can't do more than about 5 chest dips with a weighted belt.

Chest dips are horrible. I get the worst DOMS after doing them, must be good though, lol. Also helped change my boobies to pecs
