I'e been struggling to get a decent night's sleep for the past few years.
I've mentioned on one of these threads about it a few times.
'Sleep hygiene' is better than it ever has been, in the main brought on by eating earlier and bringing the time I go to bed down considerably.
I train/run most evenings so physically I should drop into slumber....but never happens.
Also tried magnesium glycerinate: this seems to one make me drowsy at first but still had that disco going off in my head. Of late (and hasn't helped with my mother passing away recently) it's worsened. I'd had two nights with not one minute of sleep, so by day/night 3 I'd probably manage to get a little out of sheer exhaustion.
Finally spoke to a Dr about it last week as I felt I need some kind of professional intervention/advice.
Mentioned I didn't want to go down the chemical route if I could help it (melatonin or that aforementioned zoplicone.
I pushed the idea of visiting a sleep clinic and she seemed very. empathetic. But all she could offer at this stage was for me to carry on doing what I'm doing and try having Chamomile tea before bed!!
However, the last two nights have been the first consecutive nights decent sleep Ive had in years.
I grabbed some herbal sleep tablets from the supermarket, taking them alongside the mags and also put on a podcast in bed to help slow down my thoughts.
With the cooler weather too, one (or a combination) of these things may be working. I've ordered some of that tea btw.
Will also order a summer duvet next year (and I may have moved by then so will purchase a new bed with a decent mattress).
Had that sleepy feeling this morning: the soft cloud feeling rather than the jaded sleepiness you get with no sleep whatsoever.
Hoping to make it 3 nights in a row tonight.
I'll be honest, I always thought the herbal tablets were nothing more than placebos, but something has kicked in!
