Institutionalised Bias

Although not a signed up member of the TIn Foil Hat brigade there are now without doubt questions being asked regarding the treatment of our club by the press, other media, Sky, BT, referees etc that demand an answer.
At what point does bias become something a lot more......

Fantastic, eloquent article that hits the nail on the head, however I fear it won't change anything as the media and idiot fans have now convinced themselves we have a persecution complex because we have been (rightly) moaning about our coverage for eight years.

People who are not blues don't like facts explained to them, even when they are refutable and I point out how we are treated in an articulate manner that they cannot argue against they just say "oh you are just being a bitter blue." They switch off when what you have to say doesn't agree with their warped idea of the world we live in, and it is the same with the press, BT and Sky for that matter.

When some have actually approached these journos and questioned them on it, I remember Blue Tuesday talking to the Sun football editor a few years back for example, they absolutely deny it and come across with their denials like they think we just like to moan. They always have the same "prove it" approach, similar to Robbie Savage's response recently that we are treated differently he just starts shouting at the caller wanting specific examples, and even if you provide them they dismiss them without even a thought.

I do think the only way this changes is if something official is done, it has to be from the club, either that or we have to act in unison as fans. I know we caused a bit of a stir at BT sport with the amount of cancellations (me being one of them) but it isn't going to be enough to change things properly, unless it comes from the club. I would love us to officially start banning people, the club recommending to fans to boycott media outlets. The nicey-nicey approach isn't working, so time to feck them off.

In the meantime articles like this are about as much as we can do as fans, even if none-blues will dismiss it the evidence is clear as day. I sincerely hope we go on to dominate football in years to come, both at home and in Europe, and when these people come knocking we remind them of their behaviour and tell them "You aren't even getting the steam off our piss, go and ask Dwight York what he thinks about it"

They won't be happy until they drive Pep out, then it'll be "we told you so" in regards to confirming that the Prem is "the hardest league"

Let's not forget the debacle of BT's Champions League coverage of City, when, if it'd been any other English club, they would've got fully behind them, flying the Flag etc.. no, omitted from all advertising, and given a panel of Ex-Man U players( 2 with a well known hatred of City) to comment on us in the studio!

I've pointed these things out to fellow football fans in the office, the less partizan ones ( or atleast those with a braincell) tend to agree there has been some very dubious decisions, the other ( Arsenal et al) ones just tow the Sky/Talkshite partyline that has been trotted out ad nauseum for the last 8 years.

Let's hope that they will atleast listen to Pep, as someone who has managed at the highest level in 3 Top European Leagues.
Whether it's some kind of insidious conspiracy or not I don't know, I'd rather it's more like a bias via osmosis, overexposure of negative media, akin to a jury being "lead" by the prosecution.
This just might pave the way to video refereeing becoming a reality, if someone as warm, calm, welcoming, charming and as easy going as Pep is screaming " conspiracy", then just maybe there will some kind of accountability come the end of the season, it wasn't just the fans screaming "penalty" when Sterling was obviously pushed, it was BT, The BBC, all made a fuss over the latest in travesty decisions against City.
Then again,......

Someone put a article from The Independent on Monday in which he mentioned the tense atmosphere at the Etihad and the fact a journo was getting abused by a fan. Well done that fan!

Spot mate.

As much as I like the article and I fully agree, it'll be fairly pointless to other football fans, as most fans will believe there is some bias to their beloved football club and will discuss most weeks about dubious penalties, cards and sending offs. None City fans will look at this as an article written by a blue who's throwing his toys out of the prams, as the media has done a great job of turning folk against us, even our own in some cases.

Hopefully it may help those City fans who read shite and believe it, to see that there's two sides to every story.... hopefully.

Great piece though and spot on.

Job at the club for that man; replacing the spineless bastards so bloody stupid they still think their softly, softly approach to the media will work.

This is the most annoying thing about the coverage we get , every single newspaper/sport show have the same agenda regarding our club they just cannot stop kicking us at every opportunity but the club does absolutely nothing , how does all this negativity help us grow the "brand" as they say.
The club need to take drastic action stop all interviews and any information and if we get fined just pay it , total ban no pre-match or post match press conferences give them nowt (at the moment we are treated like Harold Shipman / Fred Rose all rolled into one) , our media standing just cannot get any worse its about time the club grow a pair and fight back on behalf of the supporters , manager and players and as another thread has stated ....enough is enough.
