Conversely, other than his two goals i thought his overall game wasn't great.Plenty of energy, but he was largely running into the wrong spaces or stumbling over his own feet.

Thought his general game was very good, probably the best I can remember for England. His running off the ball finding space was really good and last night the players around him worked better together.

Not a big fan of international football but that was a very young side, with several players working in a system they’ve not played for England before with players they hadn’t lined up with before. Plenty of cause for optimism.

Front 3 looks a handful and signs they are gelling (if only Kane had squared to Raz in the WC semi...)

Back 4 looks solid enough and fair bit of cover now.

Keeper reminds me of Grobbelaar (brilliance and cock up hardwired).

Midfield needs further thought and probably the manager picking the same 3 for a few games in a row if he can.

I thought he was frustrating,as stated, plenty of effort but much of his play with the ball at his feet ended up with him on his arse or choosing the wrong option.

But it's cool,no problem with a differing opinion.

Pitchside perspective:

They missed a trick by not calling it 'The Thriller in Sevilla'. 'Thrill in Seville' doesn't really work.

I thought Rashford had the best game I've seen from him last night. Much less dumbness & more hard work.

Sterling just played as he usually does but scored. The link up between the front 3 was top class at times & having two more footballers in midfield made a big difference.

Praise of the back 4 though, imo, is ridiculous. They were ok on the ball but defensively fucking awful & almost chucked the game away.

Noticed how so many in the media, are calling a stupid fucking challenge by Dier on Ramos as the 'turning point' of the game.

This shows A: how many brain dead clueless fucks, who have no idea about modern football are still operating in the media & B: how many bitter, scouse loving ****s are oprerating in the media.

All members of A & B would be best in Jurassic Park, along with Fat Sam, Stuart Pearce & all the other fucking dinosaurs, never to be allowed contact with the outside world.

That reckless challenge was risking a red card for what? No way on earth would anything have come from that challenge except a goal kick, it was stupidity of the highest order, yes he won the ball but the way he went in was out of control imo and could have easily meant us playing with 10 for a huge part of the game.

Of all the comments that could be made, regarding the pros & cons of Englands tactics & performance v Spain, I find the fact that a load of people are discussing a reckless challenge on Ramos as a key incident, really fucking annoying.

It's as if they watched a game from the 1960s or "they don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring".

Ignorant frauds.

Anyone in here given Kane any credit after bashing him all world cup for his game play? Instrumental in all three goals with an amazing assist for Rashfords.

Well the Spanish press like him: https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...action-lord-harry-kane-spain-england-football

Kane gave a “lesson” AS said, Joaquín Maroto saying he “ate” Ramos and Nacho. “He wore a bowler hat and a suit in an impeccable first half: a classic striker who is good at absolutely everything,” wrote Luis Nieto. In Marca they were equally impressed: “Time was the typical English striker made it feel like every high ball was a trip to the ironmongers. Not any more. Kane is a ‘Lord’, so intelligent, a man who knows football outside the area too.”

In El País, Diego Torres was wondering why he isn’t more highly rated, saying that Real Madrid had not been interested in signing him in the summer. “Maybe it’s the eyes, the sad face, but here’s a silent genius,” he wrote. One who was in his element: “It rained on Sevilla the way it’s supposed to rain on Chingford. He doesn’t appear on the highlights reel, but did it all to bring Spain to their knees without anyone really understanding how.”

“He undid all the magic in 45 minutes,” insisted Albert Masnou in Sport. “He’s a wonderful footballer, unique, right up there with the best even though he doesn’t have the talent of Messi or the athleticism of Ronaldo, or the technical ability of Neymar. He doesn’t have those qualities but his intelligence is so brutal that he can still make the difference in so many games. He would be a great replacement for Luis Suárez at Barcelona.”

Not so fast. If Sport was imagining him at the Camp Nou, Marca were waiting for him in Seville, after everyone else had gone, imaging him at the Bernabéu instead. “Would you like to play for Madrid, Harry?” they asked. “I can’t talk tonight,” he said, heading out and onto the bus.”
