Internationals 5th-11th October

Tonight reminded me of us when we were really shit. You sit there watching it but not quite believing what you are seeing. You then realise, yes we really are that bad and clueless, not only usuless but going backwards and with no light at the end of the tunnel. Even worse driving us into that tunnel is a blind train driver who is totally lost.

we need to start looking at wales and how they play. all of there team are trained in the same way/ same clubs from youth level pretty much. a much weaker teamer overall imo. but they play as a team and fight for the shirt. our players panic and lose all of there ability some how. we've got good players, who are brilliant for there club teams. we need a system where every player knows what they are doing and a system that works for us. even if that means going back to a 442, if thats what works for us. i just want to watch a tournament where england play well and do there best one year.

It's the midfield for me, the 2 that are suppose to dictate play, England have Dier and Henderson!

Spain have Thiago, Busquets, Iniesta, Silva.
Germany have Kroos, Ozil, Khedira doesn't even make the 11.
Belgium have De Bruyne, Dembele, Nainggolan doesn't even make the squad.
Brazil have Casemiro, Fernandinho, Paulinho, Renato Augusto.
France have Kante, Bakayoko, Pogba, Matuidi, Rabiot.
Even Croatia have better options, Modric, Rakitic, Kovacic.

Even countries that are struggling have far better options; Chile, Argentina.

That's where we are truly behind and that's why we are crap. Some will say we've Wilshere, Barkley, Alli, Chalobah, Lallana to come back and offer options but we're still way behind the other countries.
Great post, and you have educated me re the current european international kingpins..
But ..i would still argue, all day long.its down to the manager.and his mentality.

I don't know if I'm biased a bit but I swear gaz barry would still be able to do a controlled but forceful job in that midfield instead of others.

The BBC's verdict is in. Surprise, surprise.

Kyle Walker (right-back) 5
A mixed performance with some carelessness, but he made amends with the cross for Harry Kane's winning goal.

Raheem Sterling (attacking midfield) 5
The Manchester City winger started brightly but his final ball was poor.

Marcus Rashford (attacking midfield) 7
The 19-year-old worked hard and showed a real threat. His end product was mixed but there is such promise.

Rated 7/10 for potentially doing something.

Oh I agree about Southgate, shocking manager with absolutely no system or way of playing.

Funny those ratings because I recall Sterling the guy with the supposed 'poor final ball' battling away with 2 Slovenia defenders before laying one on a plate for Rashford 'mixed final product' only for him to try and be Mr Fancy Bollocks instead of just bending it in.

Also how anyone for England got more than a 5/6 for England is a fucking joke.

To be fair, Walker was piss poor all night bar that bit of excellence.

He needs to go now or be told he is going to work alongside a top coach, if we can get one, to learn. He is insipid and inspires no confidence or passion. Tonight was like watching eleven individuals who were sent out with no gameplan whatsoever. I don't care that we have qualified from a shit group it means absolutely nothing. Southgate is just not good enough to manage at the top level. Still he wears a smart suit and always says the right thing in interviews. No wonder we are a laughing stock.
