Intimidating grounds

The least intimidating game I ever thought I was going to was Norwich v Queens Park Rangers probably late 1980s was seeing a lass from Norfolk she took me to Carrow Road,it kicked off everywhere including a stabbing in the pub near the ground

I remember a few heads-down-no-eye-contact undercover trips to West Ham’s old Boleyn ground, and that was before I married a local. Bizzarely, a pre-season between QPR and Hibs at Easter Road was also edgy. Me and my dad ended up leaving the supporters club sharpish after being told by a prototype Begbie that we were “sat in ma seat.”

In the end football was a charade. If you want a fight join a club and fight ABA as long as you are under 36. Otherwise there are unlicensed pro events.

10 training boxers would have gone through the Russian right said Fred squad like a tornado in Marseille.

Every time I went to the old White Hart Lane I either got chased or saw City fans being ambushed on the Seven Sisters Rd.
Sat in the away end of Huddersfield wasn’t a particularly pleasant experience especially when we scored just before half time if I remember correctly. Got moved into the away end for our own safety!

Went to Leeds five times in the 70's, no problems at four of them , even the Boxing Day game when we couldn't get in. But the 2-1 cup win in 78 was definitely dodgy, being bricked and bottled as we were leaving plus a very quiet, head down walk back to the coach.
Got chased out of Wolves in 75 which again wasn't nice.
Never had any issues at Stoke or Leicester in those days.
Must admit that I tended to pick the games where there would be less chance of any trouble so the games in Liverpool, the North East, St Andrew's and London were no goes as far as I was concerned.
Went to the Swamp quite a lot in those days but the only thing that worried us about that was that some mates would recognise us and say something. Which was always a risk being a blue in Salford.
