Intimidating grounds

Must admit once I got in those grounds and the match started I used to always think ..why the fuck have I come....and then would spend the last 20 minutes of the game wondering how the fuck am I going to get out of here without a good kicking

Leeds all day long for me. Also went there as a neutral back in the mid 80's to watch them play Derby. Can't remember why but I shouldn't have gone - not a pleasant evening.
Basically if you weren't wearing a Leeds scarf you were in trouble walking away from the ground.

Celtic the other season in the champions league
Really?

Thought it was tame.

I was in the stand to the left of the corner our fans were in. I had managed to get a ticket in the section UEFA give to City for employees etc.

All that separated us from Celtic fans was a piece of tape, the kind the police put at crime scenes.

Me and a mate from Middleton had a row of about 20 seats to ourselves. We had not gone to the game together but he does work for City.

As the goals went in the Celtic lot were very giddy giving the big one but miraculously the tape kept them away.

When we scored we ran towards the tape to celebrate also.

There was one bloke who was threatening us all first half.

Anyway half time comes. I go to get a drink and the same bloke is in the queue with me buying his brew. Not a word said.

Before the game we had organised a pub through some Rangers lads not far from the ground.

About 30 mins before the kick off the green brigade go waltzing past. The landlord locked all the doors and asked everyone to be quiet. That was eerie, about 50 City and some 20 Rangers all sat in silence.

The Rangers lads escorted me, my 2 kids and others up to the ground, just in case they said.

Went to ayresome Park the season Boro got promoted to 1st division.. Was probably 2nd or 3rd game for us.. Was chaos walking from the station to ground through the shopping centre they attacked us non stop.
Was rough as fuck in the ground and after the game getting back to the station was tasty.
The home game we played them good Friday I think it was and they got mullered in town and had a mini bus turned over on the Kippax car park where they ended up by mistake.
Was tasty in the semi 75/76 there too.. Mind you they only brought a couple of hundred to the 2nd leg..

I went there and 10 mins before the end of the game they opened the gates at the away end allowing the home fans into our section. Crazy

Back in the 80/90s a mob of us used to go in the home sections of away games.
I think the reason for this was usually described in words like "for the buzz man" lol.
Anyway this made intimidating grounds a whole lot more intimidating.
A few of the top of my head where it got quite "tasty or intimidating" were
Stoke
Holte end Villa
C stand above the Stetford End
Main stand Goodison
Huddersfield
Burnley FA Cup 90/91
