Not technologically at least. iOS is quite simply the worst platform to develop on, on the planet, and people only do so because they are forced into it by the popularity of Apple's products; solely due to their marketing campaigns and hipster wankers buying their substandard products to try and fulfil their miserable consumer whore lives.

I can't think of a single Apple product that even approaches been "good", let alone "great".

He aint wrong lads its terrible for devs, just for lols. I hacked some hipsters mac at a cafe nero in town the other week cause the wireless was as secure as an open gate, he was on twatter fuckbook and like 4 other social networking sites saying how his "project" had payed dividends and he was flush, his online bank account said otherwise looool.

i can't see the issue of owning something that is a joy to use

do i buy a guitar because the wood used to make it was hard to source or engineer?

Apple take a different approach to a lot of HW developers, they focus a lot of time on the user experience (Front end) of their products (I personally own a macBook pro as I like how intergrated all the HW is with the OS). They force every one else HTC etc... to make their front ends enjoyable to use / of a higher quality. But one thing that does annoy me is the crazy prices for distinctly average HW and the rediculous claims they make about their SW. Also it's such a bastard to develop for.

I'm not about to have a go, would just like to know what you mean by superior? The HW isn't. The front end is always highly polished and well done though. As previously mentioned development is an ass for apple products.

Surpassed by the Sony Walkman. In technological terms, their X-Series onward touchscreen technology was far superior in both usability and correctness. In terms of success, the Walkman now outsells the iPod in many territories including Japan. In terms of sound quality, it is generally regarded as the finest around. It has a longer battery life too.

I've just explained the iPod. The Macs are superior? Based on what? They are less powerful, more expensive, less usable, many software cannot be run on them without software emulation, they are a pain in the arse to develop for (which is why most people don't bother), the Operating System is beyond a joke in efficiency and they lock you in so that you essentially can't change anything that you don't like. On what are you basing "superior"?

iPhone 4, you might have an argument with but that's because I haven't tried the newest HTCs, which people tell me are the iPhone killer.

I love mac products. I have an Imac myself. On the phone front though, apple really are not pioneers. Compare the iphone 4 with any new android device and the android will beat it at every task. The iphone is the best example of effective advertising and product placement. How often do you watch a film and not see an apple product of some description? As damo says solely due to their marketing campaigns and hipster wankers buying their substandard products to try and fulfil their miserable consumer whore lives. The new samsung galaxy or htc sensation is streets ahead of anything apple will make for years. The iphone looks like a toy next to those things.
