It's fucking Envy !
No, it's confusion... If it was envy I'd just buy an iPhone instead of an S3.

I've never got a straight answer from a fanboi as to why they buy an obviously inferior product for an inflated price. It makes no difference to me what they do with their money, I just can't get my head around the concept. It comes across almost like a religious cult, especially when you see them all high-fiving as they come out with their new phone.

When I say City are champions I don't waffle on about every game we played to become champions, we're champions that's all there is to say.

You should see the party's us iPhone users have.

S3 is too big glad apple are focusing on being able to use the phone in one hand and Android fragmentation is a real big problem when you have to wait months for updates that have already been released just so the carriers and manufacturers can put crapware on it.

Fair point on the size of the S3 and HTC, some people have said that and it is a valid concern.

Also on the bloatware point, but you can get custom ROM's for Android devices that remove bloatware and help the device perform better as a result. You can also jailbreak Iphones as we know. I've never done one, so won't claim if it is easier or harder. All I know is that out of all the Iphone users I know, only one managed to jailbreak his phone. Others left it as stock (fair enough) or took it to a store and pay a fee.

-- Wed Sep 12, 2012 7:13 pm --

I do smile when people keep referring to money as if it's an important issue.

Why buy a BMW 5 series instead of a Vauxhall Vectra or a house in Didsbury when you could move to Salford for half the price, or a nice Submariner when you could get a Casio.... blah blah fucking blah.

There are only a few fanboys in here and that's the guys that get off on slating Apple and iPhones.

You think you have a better product? Brilliant, I am happy for you. Now why don't you run along as just be happy with your own purchase? It's almost as if the lady doth protest too much.

Usability, like the design, like the fact it marries nicely with my iTunes account and my 12 gb of music and same of audiobooks, liked the old 5mg camera so 8 is far more than I need, like the fact I can facetime my folks when I am away on holiday for free everyday and like the fact that only the iPhone/pad has the apps my firm put together for my work.

Why wouldn't I want it?

Why do the people that don't like Apple get so fucking excited about trying to slate iPhones and anyone that dares to be so bod as to want to purchase anything thy make?

People saying it's not revolutionary but so what? I don't need revolutionary? I want a pissing phone that takes good pictures, plays my music and audiobooks, has great apps, can call people, free video calling, looks good and can service my investment clients and let me build portfolios for them.

As far as I can see, the 5 will do all that and plenty more.
Out of all those points the only one that makes sense is the one about your firm's apps. Based on that it's fair enough, you wouldn't have much choice. Looks is a matter of opinion, mine is that plenty of phones look nicer than iPhones these days.

The rest, though, can be done with almost any phone these days. Why buy the most expensive phone there is in order to do it? Not only is the phone more expensive, but apps, books, videos and music are all more expensive in the ecosystem. For that money you get a mid to high end phone, not a top of the range one.

How does it look shit when even crappy Android owners accept that the iPhone is the best looking phone on the market?

You're an Apple fanboy, I'm an Android fanboy.

The difference is that if Apple announced something revolutionary, that nobody is doing, the way they achieved their dominant market share then I would adopt the device.

Your comment shows that you close off competitors devices/platforms.

Some guy on BBC News made the point that Apple may be going for the 'classic' look angle by not changing the look and feel of the device much (if it works then don't change it). To traditional customers, that's fine. To others, they may see the word 'classic' as meaning 'old'.
I'm not bother who thinks the phone looks old? I don't want go faster stripes or bits and pieces that make it look like an F1 car. I want something that fits in my hand and is light and thin, not an X Wing fighter.

No, what you are doing is buying the Vectra for 5 series money while the rest of us are getting a 5 series at a discount.

Like I said, I'm trying to get my head around the concept. I just don't understand why anyone would buy one. It really does bug me if I can't get my head around something.

Apps are what? 15p cheaper? I don't use money for songs or audiobooks though (shhh)

But you are right, the work apps thing is the most important.

what happened to the Iphone 4.736S217DW4 with 2 turns to the right and a happy dance model with a new must have bit on it that makes the previous model so utterly redundant in every way?

"Damn and blast my Iphone 4 has turned into a penguin now they've released the 5, oh well, I'll only be £4,000 out of pocket by the end of the day".

p.s. The IPhone 5.0123953853 has been announced, comes with a free voice activated turd apparently.
