Half the passengers were Iranians. If it was shot down, it certainly won't have been a targeted attack.

147 Iranians infact as they were dual citizens. There is one country that is known for shooting down passenger planes in or near Iran though. And they never apologised for it.

What was it shot down with an AK? If it was a missle it would have fell apart in the sky. Still though for a 737 to have dual engine failure is extremely unusual.

I am not saying it was shot down, but I can assure you missile damage sustained whilst in flight is varied, and by no means do aircraft simply get blown apart. plenty of missiles that will infact just pretty much take an engine out.

The footage could just as easy show the results of a missile hit as otherwise.

One thing I can tell you, Boeing will be shitting it right now and probably hoping it was a missile.

I am hearing that the Ukraines have withdrawn the statement regarding engine failure.

There are also people with a much higher knowledge than me examining photos of the wreckage and seeing things to make their eyebrows raised.

It depends on the kind of missile.

The Malaysian 777 that was brought down by Russia was obvious because there were blast fragments all over the fuselage.

Most anti-aircraft missiles explode before impact to release fragments that do the critical damage.

It could of been one of the missiles intended for the US airbases but that would be incredibly unlucky, like throwing a stone randomly and hitting a bird by accident. I don't know if they were launched from nearby.

If there are no pictures, analysis and investigation access is refused then it was probably shot down.

Looks like the Iranian 'Response' is a glorified foot stamping display, qualified by them saying they don't want escalation.
I don't think there will be any war, with the bonus of the biggest cause of conflict in the region now spread over most
of it.

The only non-suspicious option I can think is that maintenance job it had on Monday was a complete fuck up.

I can't see why an engine failure would down a 737, and they wouldn't know this quickly. By the cover-up nature I suspect it's an internal fuck-up.

With this one, though, the reasons for the crash have come too soon - that's what's troubling. The plane was climbing when it suddenly lost altitude and it was on fire when it fell.
