With this one, though, the reasons for the crash have come too soon - that's what's troubling. The plane was climbing when it suddenly lost altitude and it was on fire when it fell.

Seems very suspicious, even if it’s accidental there’s mileage for the Iranians to blame the US, only time will tell.

I’m sure you must know the story behind the Tenerife accident (due to your quick response to my post) but the transcript of the flight is in this report, bit long winded but it’s towards the end where the control tower and pilot and Co-pilot conversations are recorded.

It depends on the kind of missile.

The Malaysian 777 that was brought down by Russia was obvious because there were blast fragments all over the fuselage.

Most anti-aircraft missiles explode before impact to release fragments that do the critical damage.

It could of been one of the missiles intended for the US airbases but that would be incredibly unlucky, like throwing a stone randomly and hitting a bird by accident. I don't know if they were launched from nearby.

If there are no pictures, analysis and investigation access is refused then it was probably shot down.

If it were shot down I would be inclined to think it may have been a trigger happy anti aircraft regiment, who knew that the strike on the American bases had taken place.

There are already numerous pictures of the wreckage in circulation. I have seen loads on Pprune already.

Boeing already going through a bad time re max version of 737 now complicated by either further technical problems or that particular aircraft manufacturer targeted.

I wonder if the three Brits who died in the air crash were getting out of Iran due to the recent events, just for their own safety. It’s tragic for them and all others on board.

That is being suggested, you could apparently get that kind of damage from a catastrophic engine failure but rarely as when an engine fails engine casings are designed to contain the debris.
