There are also people with a much higher knowledge than me examining photos of the wreckage and seeing things to make their eyebrows raised.

I would imagine some trigger happy loon knowing that his pals had fired missiles at Yanks bases assumed that the Ukraine jet was infact a USAF B52 intent on foul play.

Perfectly possible in a country like Iran. Its military is much over rated.

Remember its population is fed an awful lot of nonsense by the state and many swallow it, as a result it will be fair to say that many will not exactly be worldly wise.

It's fucking disgraceful if true, no doubt they will deny it and blame someone else just like Russia did in the Ukraine. It's not Irans normal military that makes them strong it's the vast network of insurgents it has at its disposal.

You are quite right regarding Iran and where its power lies. To be fair to them they have operated quite impressively considering all the sanctions and their lack of access to modern weaponry.

They are tricky opponents but very limited in what they could do through conventional military means. Thats is why they are desperate to get nuclear weapons and also why those fearing WW3 can rest easy.

I do wonder if Iran have given Trump the perfect excuse to now go after Irans military and certainly the nuclear facilities. He may not get another opportunity.

I winder if it could have been targeted by Iran for a different reason.

Boeing already going through a bad time re max version of 737 now complicated by either further technical problems or that particular aircraft manufacturer targeted.

Does not have to be carrying Americans just American made plane.

I think aliens is a more likely explanation than that.

I wonder what news we will wake up to tomorrow? I suspect it will be a further attack by the US on Iran, some kind of cruise missile launch against military targets, Trump has too much of an ego to let this pass.

If it were shot down I would be inclined to think it may have been a trigger happy anti aircraft regiment, who knew that the strike on the American bases had taken place.

There are already numerous pictures of the wreckage in circulation. I have seen loads on Pprune already.

Looking at the pictures, it looks an almost guarantee that it was shot down.

The fact they are saying engine failure almost proves it. Engine failures don't destroy aircraft.

It really does look like Iran have f***ed up big time.
