Ireland Leaving - Absolute Disaster

Re: Ireland Leaving - Absolutely Disaster

It will be sad to see him go if this is the case as I agree he is a grand player on his day.

But the team is set up to play a certain way and the best players adapt to that, not sulk and strop.

No one is bigger than the club. Plenty of players will come and go. We are on the way to a period of domination. Shame Stevie isn't grown up enough to try and be part of that.

Re: Ireland Leaving - Absolutely Disaster

If Stevie wants to leave there isn't really much we can do. While i agree he hasn't been given the same freedom as he had last season, i do think it is better for the team.

Look at Arsenal for example, they play some lovely football and i have no doubt Stevie will fit into that system better than any other club, but as Arsenal have proved over the last 5 years, nice football doesn't win you trophies and that for me is why Stevie isn't getting into the team.

Look at United and Chelsea. They have had the run of the premier league for a while now and both have been built on solid defence rather than the attacking approach that would be needed to suit Ireland.

I too would be gutted, he is a youth product, one of our own, and i also share the same surname which is quite nice, but, 1 man doesn't make a team.

sounds like ROI all over again.

Re: Ireland Leaving - Absolutely Disaster

It's all right bleating "blah blah he's been shit this year" .The plain fact of the matter is ... he has, and with no sign of him turning his form around. Don't forget he's already thrown his dummy out of the Irish national team cot. If he wants to throw his back-up dummy out of the MCFC cot, then so be it. Let him show a determined attitude and fight for his place.

Re: Ireland Leaving - Absolutely Disaster

Ireland would not be running the show for United, Chelsea, Liverpool or even more ridicilously Arsenal.

To play well he needs acres of space. He is a good player don´t get me wrong but to hold him up as the equivalent of Lampard, Gerard, Fabregas or even an ageing Scholes is patently dense.

Ireland has over his City career flattered to decieve. One good season does not a superstar make.

I trust Mancini to recognize what a quality midfielder is rather than you. And Vieira was brought to City for the short term. There will be further midfielders arriving in the summer. And sadly for Stevie and SWP they may not make the cut anymore.

Just had a coffee with a very good contact on the agent side. I can't give any more info but he's been very reliable in the past.

Steven Ireland is 99% likely to leave City in the summer. The interested parties at the moment are three of the traditional top four. All three want him subject to transfer fee. He was also guest of honour at one of Europe's top clubs two weeks ago.

The reason he wants to leave is simple - the way he has been overlooked and treated by City this season, particularly by our current manager.

If - I am actually told it is now a "when", but there has to be some hope - he leaves to join one of our rivals I will be absolutely devastated. No, I will be angry. It would be the worst "out" transfer I can ever remember. Yes, it was sad to see the back of Francis, Stewart and Kinkladze amongst others but these were all for money.

This will not be for financial reasons. It will come back to haunt us. The clubs who want him will use him properly. Imagine him running United's midfield against us. It will be like seeing your wife sucking another man's member.

I will be furious to see him leave. He's one of the best natural talents at the club. I can predict the thread already - "blah blah he's been shit this year" from all the numpties.

Well fuck you if you want Patrick Vieira in our team/squad ahead of Stevie Ireland.

I'm gutted about this.

Not good enough for that level imo and I will be very surprised if it happens. You obvioulsy rate him a lot higher than I do.

If he ever did leave I doubt he'd go to the rags. They couldn't afford him, for one thing. And he knows exactly how we'd all feel about it if he did.

Relax. I think he'll be here next season. He's City through and through.

With respect you don't know what you're talking about mate.

The facts are above.

Remember when Barca let Fabregas go...

Stick him in that Arsenal/Liverpool team and i could see that same big mistake happening.

He has barely been played in his favoured position.

but I'm not going to run around the same arguments about that, we've done it to death.

The fact is he's leaving and fact is that that takes our club backwards.

When he's been played in his favourite position he hasn't grasped the opportunity and with the strength of our squad you've got to take your chances when you get them. To play Ireland in his favoured role we have to switch our team round and quite frankly his performances haven't justified this

Blaming Mancini is all well and good but if Ireland wants to jump ship so soon when he's been given opportunities and hasn't taken them then I think you have to look at Stevie as opposed to blaming Mancini

Hope this ain't true though and I hope we keep hold of Stevie

Yes I do. As do three managers from the traditional top four.
