Ireland Leaving - Absolute Disaster

He's too slow to play as an attacking midfielder i.e. Bellamy/ A. Johnson and too weak to play in Barry/Vieira's position.

Nice footballer on his day but they are too few and far between.

would be genuinely gutted. im never too fussed when players leave such is the fickle nature of football.

but for some reason this would really bother me.. it bothered me when he was "on his way to sunderland" prior to the milan friendly.

for once we have a genuine potentially world class, home grown player who seems to have real affection for the club.

However, i would find it hard to believe if he were to go, simply due to the amount of chat we have heard from the top brass regarding preserving the local, bringing through home grown youth players.. etc etc. to hammer this home they even hung a banner celebrating our home grown player of the season.. (rightly or wrongly)

surely this would undo or weaken the bond between club and fans.

He needs to give his head a wobble and knuckle down and give all he can. When given the chance this season as a starter or a sub he has been a let down. I would like him to stay and get his one season wonder form back dont get me wrong.

he would benefit from taking the summer off and going away for a few weeks rather that run up and down steps.

If he ever did leave I doubt he'd go to the rags. They couldn't afford him, for one thing. And he knows exactly how we'd all feel about it if he did.

Relax. I think he'll be here next season. He's City through and through.

With respect you don't know what you're talking about mate.

The facts are above.

Think he's offski if things don't change, and very quickly.

Don't see United, only in that we would refuse to sell him to them.

Liverpool would be a decent option in terms of potential swaps.

But all the indicators are it would be Arsenal.

Only because they will lose Fabregas, and Ireland still gets to see Champs League.

Maybe we should make it a condition of any sale, Arsenal also have to take back Kolo?

Will be sad to see the back of him, and, under another manager, a Jose/Wenger, would no doubt blossom again.

But would I take Ireland over the boy Sneijder at Inter, not on your nelly.

Rather see SWP go.

we seem to be picking up plenty of points while hes on the bench, good player is Stevie but he couldnt tackle a good breakfast-hes doesnt like the physical side of the midfield role, even that little girl Modric at Tottenham puts hiself about.

Theres plenty of better players out there if youve got the money.....

You can all fuck off with your "he hasn't taken his chance" and "a change will do him good" bollocks quite honestly.

He's one of our prize assets and it would be a tragedy to lose him.

I am telling you all here and now that he will be a superstar when he moves on.

But don't worry, we;ll have our journeymen like Vieira and Zableta.

Apart from a short spell last season, I have loved Stevie more for the bloke he seems to be than his performances on the pitch, but I'm afraid that just wont cut it the long run. He hasn't performed very well, this we all can see and the reasons for that is really irrelevant.

We want to be a top team in the PL, competing for the title as well as other cup tiles for many many years to come, and in order to do this I think we will have to judge things with our brains and not our hearts. It's difficult but necessary.

If there for example was a deal with Liverpool (whcih I by the way highly doubt), Torres coming our way with cash + Stevie going the opposite way, well my heart would cry, but my mind would celebrate.

Zabaleta's about 23/24 you stiff, and is a very good utility player. He gives his all for the club, never moans and has been a lot bloody better than Ireland this season Dave.

sad if true but his performances this season when he has played haven't justified him staying in the team

He has barely been played in his favoured position.

but I'm not going to run around the same arguments about that, we've done it to death.

The fact is he's leaving and fact is that that takes our club backwards.
not sure if it takes us backwards but id rather he played football than sat warming the bench.same as dunnie, too good to be a bit part player and if he does go, i hope its to villa.sad all the same and my sons will be gutted if it happens.
