sad if true but his performances this season when he has played haven't justified him staying in the team

He has barely been played in his favoured position.

but I'm not going to run around the same arguments about that, we've done it to death.

The fact is he's leaving and fact is that that takes our club backwards.
He certainly wasn't by Hughes but in fact Mancini has given him a few starts in his best position - Pompey at home, Hull and Stoke away - and frankly Stevie was a big letdown. I'd like him to stay but he's got to show Mancini he deserves a place in the squad, Mancini told everyone they started with a clean slate, that works both ways, Ireland can't rely on last seasons performances to guarantee him a place.

Not good enough for that level imo and I will be very surprised if it happens. You obvioulsy rate him a lot higher than I do.

Yes I do. As do three managers from the traditional top four.

Haha, ok mate. Lets wait on see eh....

If he ever did leave I doubt he'd go to the rags. They couldn't afford him, for one thing. And he knows exactly how we'd all feel about it if he did.

Relax. I think he'll be here next season. He's City through and through.

Erm, didn't he support either Arsenal or Ushited as a kid? He had a trial at Rags, but they didn't want him so we took him off Cobh Ramblers, Ushited just didn't rate him

He has been asked to play out of position numerous times this season to help the team out and his body Language and attitude has been awful . He has had chances lately in his preferred postion and not took them . Maybe a change would be good for him .

Re: Ireland Leaving - Absolutely Disaster

perhaps there is a reason he has been overlooked this season.
someone has said it before on this forum, and that is, the difference between a good player and a great player is consistency!
I'm not denying that last season he was outstanding, and by far the best performer at the club, but it was only one season, he wasn't brilliant before, and he hasn't been brilliant after.
I know he is something of a hero to a lot of fans, but losing him would not be the disaster your saying. he has barely played football this season, so how would that be a loss if were pushing 4th without him?
i would prefer him to stay to be fair, for depth. but i think he has more to prove for me to believe he is a "first name on the team sheet"kind of player.
he has got youth on his side, so hopefully i will be proved wrong and he will grow into the great player he has shown he is capable of, but at the moment he is still just a squad player for me.

Just remember he was 99% off to Sunderland a few season back, anything can happen in football.

This year he has not fitted into Mancini's system but theres always hope he may get a run soon and prove him wrong.

Also, he might just need a sea change to progress his career. I hope we don't lose him but if his not getting time i'd be happy for him if he left. He always wore the shirt with pride and with players like that you can really only wish them the best, as long as he doenst sign for United.

surely liverpool arent even in the top4 anymore ?

also if there is a change of manager in the summer, would this change the picture again

agents like to set potential deals up, its in the agents interests to leak things and build up publicity... not all deals go through, take kaka and eto'o for example...

swp i would feel is more likely to go, especially if special one rolls up, shaun missed the world cup last time because jose never played him
