Ireland - One season wonder?

Or maybe he'll have another outstanding season?
History shows, too, that many players who have enjoyed long and succesful careers also had one amazing season to begin their long and succesful careers, y'know?
The lad's got something to live up to, you say. Why not be grateful for his past efforts and wish him the best for next season?

The lad has had a great season, better than most in the league, and some people (OP) still have to undermine this by suggesting he might not perform next year. He can't win.

Play crap and be undermined, or perform absolutely brilliantly, and get accused of false advertisement, as you might not do it next year.

IRELAND IS A LEGEND IN THE MAKING. Lets back him with the same gusto and enthusiasm he has shown us.

What Steven Gerrard is to Liverpool, Stephen Ireland is that to us.

Whoever started this topic needs shooting!!!

Where's that thread for winner for dumbest post of the year so far, cause I think that the OP may have already taken the title.

Players that are one season wonders usually fall into the category because they let everything go to their head. You know, after one season of good footy, they're all of a sudden world class and become lazy, and start partying, drinking, and womanizing so much it gets in the way of their career. Stevie is the opposite. He has realized that the harder he works, the more successful he will be. By all accounts he has been working hard to get into better shape for the upcoming season. If anything, I believe Stevie will be better this season as we are adding more quality to our team. Watch him be up there with Gerrard and Lampard this year.

i cant believe the amoutn of abuse the op has got just for asking a question and in all honesty it is possible that ireland's next season might not be as good as last, like the op said if he is picked out by other teams for special treatment just like swp has been since he returned, (would you say swp is as good a player now as the one that was our top scorer from midfield before he went to chelsea?) or if he is pushing his body too far instead of giving it a rest, it is possible last season could be the best ireland will ever have or it could be the foundation for a superb career we will just have to wait and see but either is POSSIBLE.
