Ireland's bust up with rob (merged)

I think Stevie could prosper playing just in front of Yaya and Nige.

Probably his best position linking up with a front two or just Charlie on his own with AJ and Silva down the flanks.

That's certainly what I'd like to see and why I think he has a future.

How may creative midfielders do we actually have now? Not enough to bin a promising youngster who loves the club.

Spot on mate. Look how he played alongside Elano and Robinho. To get the best out of him he needs to be playing alongside flair players, he's a fantastic talent. If we sell him and then keep the likes of Richards and SWP then I would seriously start to doubt the judgement of our management team.

I know it's the Mirror but reported here also

In all honesty Ireland has loads of chances to impree and he was one of our poorer players last night.
That award went to Bridge who looked short 10 yards of pace.

Will be sad to see Ireland go and he most likely will flourish for another team.

Our best option may be to loan him out {With a caluse that he can't play against us} to one of the following teams.

Sunderland
Aston Villa
Fulham
Newcastle
Birmingham
Everton
Wigan
Blackburn
Bolton
West Ham

This way we can evaluate where he is and get some benefit from him playing against our opo

Re: Islands bust up with rob

As he is still only 23yo and may yet refind his form, a loan move to the likes of Wigan or Bolton would seem the best way forward. It can then be reviewed in January.

Re: Islands bust up with rob

which will have only served to strengthen speculation linking the combative midfielder with a move away from Eastlands.
If only.

Ireland's fall from grace has been nothing short of astonishing. I'd love him to get back to his best but I certainly fear we won't be seeing it at City again. His attitude just doesn't seem right anymore; he's not been a combative midfielder for at least 12 months now.

Re: Islands bust up with rob

Being played out in the media to soft the blow for when he signs for the scum.

Re: Ireland's bust up with rob

1) He's young and still has plenty of time to improve/rediscover his form.

2) He wasn't as bad as some made out last season, and that after being shoved out of position half the time or just coming on as a sub. What other club would treat their POTY in that way? Sends a fucking great message to the youngsters coming through. Do well and you'll still be cast aside for big money signings.

3) Can you blame him for getting pissed off when Barry kept his place all season despite being shit for long periods?

4) Bobby started bringing Vieira on ahead of Ireland in games we needed to score in! What kind of message was that?

5) He fits the home-grown criteria.

6) He's still a creative talent and the only other creative central player we have is probably Silva. I do not want to go into a season with a dirth of attacking options but half a dozen players who can play in defensive midfield.

He really ought to be given another chance this season.

Re: Ireland's bust up with rob

These reports seem strange given the interview he did with the OS post the lisbon game, coupled with him being named captain last night. I hope he stays but only time will tell.

Re: Ireland's bust up with rob

I just have a feeling Ireland, Santa Cruz and Bridge will all be wearing red dipper shirts in a few weeks
