Ireland's bust up with rob (merged)

Re: Ireland's bust up with rob

I think he will go and honestly I am absolutely gutted.

He used to fly all over the pitch chasing the ball down. Now if the ball moves passed him he just stops.

SOme chap above said he hasnt been the same since he had that dizzy spell and i think this is true, that coupled with the influx of world class players, seems to have really effected Ireland, He is still me favourite city player but I htink he will go...gutted.

That run we has in the Europa league (or whatever it used to be called) him and robinho literally carried us the entire way.

Re: Ireland's bust up with rob

The problem with Ireland & Richards seems to be mental if that they believed the hype about themselves after graduating to the first team and having some decent games.

I would love to see the pair of them loaned to Blackpool till Christmas. A nice large dose of reality still playing int he premier league and it would allow us & more importantly the management team to see if they any hunger to actually achieve something the game or happy just to pick up the big bucks for doing jack.

Re: Ireland's bust up with rob

Someone mentioned that they wouldn't be surprised if SI, Bridge and RSC are playing at Liverpool next season.

Well I hope so.

Bridge and RSC were two of Hughes' worst signings. Rocky always injured and Bridge is so one footed and a poor defender.

Ireland is a bit different in that he is talented and isn't a permanent sicknote. However we do overate our academy kids bigtime. Just like at national level we overate our own players when it is quite obvious that most of the foreigners that we bring in are better and more professional.

Silva is one year older than Ireland. Fabregas the same age.

He's good but is not a first team starter where we want to be. Ireland wants to play and I reckon he will get his opportunity elsewhere.

Re: Ireland's bust up with rob

I don't think he will ever get his form back for us, and Mancini being in charge makes it even less likely. Stevie was clearly a Hughes fan, although to keep it in perspective his performances even for Hughes were massively on the wane in the first half of last season, when compared to the season before that.

He has good vision and can pass the ball, rare for a British/Irish player - but then to put it in perspective so can Joe Cole, and even if Ireland goes on to consistantly match his level throughout his career, he won't be missed that much here. We don't particularly need Joe Cole, do we? Bit random I know but a comparison to a similar (and similarly capable) player who isn't an academy lad does help to put it all in perspective.

I just have a feeling Ireland, Santa Cruz and Bridge will all be wearing red dipper shirts in a few weeks

This would be excellent. I hope you are right!
