Is 37/38 too old to have kids?

Had my two at 38 and 43

They keep you young but completely fuck up your social life!!

The only time I feel old is when I'm perving at the mums at school who are 20 yrs younger than me and they're looking at me thinking "awwww ain't it nice his grandad picks him up" lol

More like. Bloody hell his grandad picks him up, his dad's most probably at home, smacked up.

The missus is 46 and I am 42. We are unable to conceive naturally.

I didn't want, she did before she went through the menopause...and now I do.

Going through IVF ...and yes, I feel a twat. I didn't want children. But, something twigged in my mind and suddenly I thought differently.

We want a baby now and were going through the necessary procedures and it may happen.

I don't mind adding we are doing this privately and at zero cost to the NHS.

As above: are we I too old - no; I don't think so. I have the mind of a 60/16 year old (depending on my surroundings) but I have the energy of a 25 year old..as does my lass.

We have thought this through and then some.

We look forward to being parents.. hopefully by this time next year.

As long as that baby you're gonna have is happy and loved by his mam and dad, age means fuck all

Good luck pal, fingers crossed for you

for a male?

Not had any, but it's something I want.

I had my younger child when I was 37. Can you do it? Of course! Will they wear your arse out? Of course!! But, I love both my daughters more than anything.

I had a son when I was younger. He died within hours after birth. I didn't think I wanted children again after that. I'm glad I changed my mind. My kids are the focus of my world and fill my life with happiness.

One thing to consider, if your wife/partner is your age the chance of Downs Syndrome and other birth defects is higher the older a woman gets. Seeing a paranatogist during pregnancy is something I'd recomend.

Also, if you think you want to start trying for kids have her start taking folic acid supplements before you even start trying.

Good luck!

very similar story to a couple of customers of mine. dealt with them for years, not seen them for around 3/4 years until the other day when they walked in with a baby boy. I love happy endings, especially those that means a new nursery carpet is required :)

good luck mate.
