Is Chelsea on Wednesday the make or break match?

Regarding the Chelsea game, it's disappointing that we don't get to face AVB's Chelsea. The players clearly didn't care for the man, and simply weren't performing for him. Now he's gone, and Di Matteo is in temporary charge (well, John Terry ably assisted by Di Matteo, obviously) moral is higher, and Chelsea are actually going out there and putting together TEAM performances. They are a far tougher outfit than they were a month ago.

I suspect they would have lifted for the match against us anyway, not for AVB but for the chance to show that they aren't as useless against a top side.

Sort of thing that Liverpool specialise in.

I am one of the more pessimistic amongst us but even I believe that we will overcome Chelsea, not least because some of their players will be tired and their defence is unreliable to say the least. 4-2.

Simply put yes it is make or break. Lose and I cant see us catching United.

Good job I think we are going to win then.

The make or break games are the away fixtures. Stoke, Arsenal, Norwich, Wolves & Newcastle. Recently our away form has been so poor that I'm finding it difficult to believe we'll win all, or even most, of those games. Even when we've won, such as at at Wigan & Villa, we made hard work of it and nearly let the points slip at the end. Its imperative that we change the way that we approach away matches, play with more tempo and score early.

No.

Fuck me, I hate how people talk about every game being 'the' deciding game. There is no one deciding game, the next 10 put together are the make or break games, not individually.

I think it comes from the ADD culture we live in, everyone must have instant gratification. They must be able to say 'City have lost the title' if they lose one game, when in reality that's bollocks.

I was very confident about this match but a little more concerned now AVB has gone. Also, I'm giving a rag a lift after the match and he is truly the worst type of rag. Hasn't been to a match in about 6 years, has every excuse under the sun for why that it is (and they are all bullshit), he spend most of his time talking about (and sneering at) City. If we don't win then two hours in the car with him is going to be a fucking nightmare. He may end up getting chucked out on the fast lane of the M56.

Stoke play today and Wednesday (if game is on) whereas we'll only play the one game, this has to work in our favour.

If we win both games the Rags will be bricking it.

You're quite calm and a good voice of reason! I suppose I'm also looking at the poor start we made against Lisbon on Thursday and how it took a couple of goals from them to remind us that we had to win to stand any chance of getting through the tie.

Some of the stuff on here over the last couple of days has been enough to drive you to suicide. We've just gotta put things in perspective. We can go back to the summit with two wins in the next two games, it's as simple as that.

Even if the worst was to happen, any pain or heartbreak we suffer this year will just make winning it next year even sweeter.
