Is Gaël Clichy that good?

Bobbins today, I'd start Kolorov over him now. I wouldn't have dreamt of saying that a few months ago.
Don't think either of them are good enough long term. It's a position that needs looking at

Think you need to watch the game again if you thought that. Clichy never used to get beaten for pace. Today he looked like he was a good yard off it. Like I said, I hope he gets back to where he was in 2011-12 when he was superb.
 
Poor today. Imagine Kolarov having a game like that!

Still like him as a player though. Had a stop-start season that can't help.
 
I thought he was our most consistent player in the title winning season. First half of last season still pretty good but then started to fall off and hasn't inspired confidence at all this season. The same thing happened at Arsenal, when he got his chance in their first team he got in the team of the season but gradually got worse/ started making more mistakes. Make Kolarov the main starter and he'll have to come fighting back.

He is not a great player - Very good in 11/12, not so good in 12/13, decidedly average (so far) in 13/14. Pelle knows that, and (more importantly) he knows that Kolarov has more fire in his belly.

This far into the season - and considering his weekly wage packet - that is shameful!

He was angling for a big money move to PSG in the summer. He'll be off at the first opportunity.
 
He's just out of form at the moment. In his fist two seasons with us he was probably our most consistent player. Luckily we have another really good LB in Kolarov, so we're okay.
 
Loved him the year we won the prem but he's godawful at the moment,and has been since mid last year.

Huge reason we lost the FA Cup final,and to me was the main reason bayern slaughtered us.today he was lost.

Really hope he regains the old form.

I take issue with Clichy having a bad game against Bayern. He was left horrible exposed in that game with 2 Bayern players coming at him the whole time, he was stuck out in no mans land between the 2. Nasri was playing a sort of left midfield and kept moving to the centre of the park. He spent the whole of the first half legging it over to cover the Bayern attack.

I'm not saying that his form hasn't dipped and he seems to have lost a yard of pace but that night he was left hung out to dry

Haha, harsh but unfortunately completely true. Though I'd put Kolarov a few notches about average the way he's been playing this season.

He's exactly that, and has been for quite a period now, I hope he can find his form soon.
 
Out of form, but still a very good full back. Anyone writing him off needs to get a grip.
 
No, he is not. Even when he was in his best form he was never top class FB as he is useless in attack and nowadays fullbacks need to be as good up front as they're at back. Never understood why he is so much rated here, I rate Kolarov more in City squad. City is attacking side always playing to win the game and better attacking fullbacks are more useful than better defending ones n such team.
