Surely it's a cultural phenomenon and nothing to do with religion. There was a Muslim representative interviewed on one of the news channels recently, he seemed almost to despair at those of his co-religionists who misunderstood this point and blamed it on their inability to read the Quran/Koran in its original Arabic and having to rely on 'translations' or 'interpretations' with a political agenda to push. However I would be mightily miffed if I had queued at my local butchers for a cut price liver promotion limited to one special offer per customer only to find burqa clad women in the same queue - how could one know whether they had gone back for a double, or even treble clutch of goodies?
