SERGIO AGUERO'S STAMP SHOCKER
By Paul Brown
-----------------------------------------------
SERGIO AGUERO went from hero to villain as Manchester City booked their place in the FA Cup Final.

The Argentinian hitman scored a stunning header to add to Samir Nasri’s opener as City beat holders Chelsea, who scored a consolation goal through Demba Ba. Luiz in the 81st minute.

But Aguero should have been sent off after an ugly two-footed stamp on David Luiz in the 81st minute.

Chelsea defender Luiz said: “Aguero is a great player and I think he needs to be honest with himself and say: ‘I don’t like to do bad tackles, I don’t like to do that’.

“I would apologise to everyone. I want just to show people good things.

“Many kids see the game, watch the game and want to see good things and not bad things. Sometimes people have five seconds, get angry and do things you don’t like to do.

“I think that. I never saw Aguero do bad tackles on other players. I think it was five second angry and I forgive him.”

City boss Roberto Mancini, whose side will now face Wigan on May 11 looking to win the trophy for the second time in three seasons, defended the striker.

He said: “I need glasses. I didn’t see it. But I don’t think it was a stamp. It was a tackle. The referee was there.

“If Sergio did something wrong... This can happen in football. But I don’t think so.

“Sergio is a good guy. Usually Aguero takes a lot of kicks.

“We deserved to win. Now we have to win the final and finish second in the championship, that is our target.”

The incident came after Luiz tried to barge Aguero off the ball. As a result he tumbled to the floor and the City man jumped in with both feet and made contact with his backside.

Referee Chris Foy gave a free kick for the foul but did not book Aguero, who is therefore likely to escape further punishment because the official dealt with the incident at the time.

City’s win ended Chelsea’s hopes of retaining the trophy – and left them with only the Europa League to play for this season.

Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez refused to condemn Aguero, choosing instead to blame defeat on Foy, who also missed what looked like a clear penalty for a shirt-pull by Vincent Kompany on Fernando Torres.

Benitez said: “I don’t like to point at players for these kind of situations. For me, the main one was the penalty not given.

“The consequence could have been a red card and it could have changed the game. It was clear. For me the penalty decision was crucial. Was it a penalty? Yes, clearly. It’s very clear, you can see the pictures. Torres had his shirt pulled up.

“I’m disappointed at the moment, but you have offi cials to make decisions. It’s something they have to clarify.”

Kompany said: “I thought it was great defending. I put my body in the way.

“For a while, it was too comfortable for us and Demba Ba’s goal was a wake-up call.

“In the end I thought we defended really well and did a great job.

“We only hope we can have the same scenes when we play against Wigan in the final.”

Torres was also lucky to escape a red card for a stamp on Aguero, while City claimed a penalty of their own for an earlier foul on Yaya Toure by Oscar

-- 15 Apr 2013 00:17 --

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/309257/

Re: Is it true Aguero can't be banned?

I await the 10 game ban by the impartial FA....

Re: Is it true Aguero can't be banned?

Couldn't have happened to a nicer kid. Nasty from Aguero, but I have to admit seeing him to that to Luiz doesn't break my heart. 3 match rest for Sergio won't be such a terrible punishment at this stage.

Just got back from the game and saw the challenge on the highlights. He should have walked, that was shocking. Don't know what Luis done to him to deserve it, but it must have been bad.
He elbowed him if you can't see it keep replaying and looking till you decide you want to see it? If a ban comes ban both

Re: Is it true Aguero can't be banned?

If I remember correctly (and bear in mind it was 4:40am in New Zealand) the Radio Piccadilly commentator said that Kun was lucky not to lose his head from Luis' swinging elbow (which should have been a red card - according to the commentator). The jump and stamp in the clip was not mentioned. They also said that Torres should have been shown red for his "cowardly" tackle on Kun starting at his shin and raking down to stomp on his ankle.

Any wonder that Kun jumped and landed on Luis' backside given the treatment that was being dished out to him.

Re: Is it true Aguero can't be banned?

It is what it is. Aguero was provoked and reacted. I still love you Aguero.

Luiz should harden the fuck up though, the amount of swinging elbows this motherfucker gives out is ridiculous.
