Is Ken Barlow acting?

The classic episodes on itv 3 . Are so much better than today’s Corrie stopped watching it years ago . But still enjoy the old episodes. Kirk & Tyrone still can’t act .

What Corrie had in the past was humour (Jack and Vera etc) now it’s descended into the same miserable shite like the rest of the em. I’ve only ever seen a couple of episodes of Eastenders - depressing drivel in which no person ever smiles. The most humorous thing about soaps nowadays is that the fuckwit actors have their own annual acting awards!!
I remember Dierdre's mum was pretty funny and blunt.
Yeah Jack Vera Elsie were good characters.

Had the best news ever last night.

Mrs used to watch corro and emmerdale religiously. It didnt bother me as id just do other stuff so no probs, and some of the stuff i watch wasnt for her so it worked out

Any way, she stopped watching about 4 months ago but still taped them with the threat that she would binge watch and catch up, there was about 60 episodes of each clogging up the sky box.
Last night i was trying to tidy up ‘recordings’ and she said “just delete them all” , i wont be bothering.

Twas lovely deleting them all. Bye bye misery!!!

William Roache, whose wife told him what to wear and laid out his clothes for him every morning. She also bought all his clothes and generally waited on him hand and foot. They did a documentary about him many, many years (about 25) that I had to watch at my brother's house when I was staying there. I never forgot it. He was treated like a baby. I'd never liked him, thought he was stealing a living acting but that made it even worse. :-)

Back in the late 1960's/early 1970's, one of our neighbours was Alan Rothwell, who was a long-standing cast member who played Ken Barlow's brother David. We regularly got to see many of the Corrie cast close up, and they fell into one of two camps - playing themselves or playing the complete opposite to their screen persona.

Two who fell into the latter category were Jean Alexander (Hilda Ogden) and Violet Carson (Ena Sharples). Jean Alexander was a very refined and elegant woman, totally unlike Hilda Ogden. Violet Carson was just the loveliest person, with a beaming smile, so unlike the sharp-tongued, unsmiling Ena Sharples. Margot Bryant, who played the inoffensive Minnie Caldwell, could be quite sharp-tongued though apparently.

But most were just the same on and off screen, including Bill Roache. I was at the studios one time and we were having a cup of tea in the restaurant when he came over with his wife and joined us. He was Ken Barlow (or Ken Barlow was Bill Roache) 100%.
