I wouldn't argue with that, though Ake if played there would be better defensively.

Again that is Pep's call and none of us really know what is his ideal left back.

An extra left back would be good but I don't know who the club will really want and they seem to be making do with what we have got.

I don’t know who is a better LB than Mendy but it must be a fairly long list based on the version we have now. They need to get busy before the deadline.

Be quicker to list who isn't better than him.

Yep but we can't sign any old left back and hope for the best either. Part of the reason why we signed Mendy was because of his height. And before injury he could shift and had good recovery pace.

Think Palace have been happy with their replacement maybe we could chase Van Aanholt. Honestly I think almost any LB would do Mendy is playing that poorly

van Aanholt is currently injured. Bertrand can do a job but will be really expensive for what he can add to the team. Cancelo is my choice for the season.

Injuries have taken their toll on Mendy, he has lost his pace and his defensively he is not upto standard. LB will be an issue until he is replaced by a player who can defend.

No I get that but he can't do it now so playing him is an issue .

I expect us to have a quality scouting system who can identify the type of player we require and their availability . Is that not why we employ them ?

We do have a quality scouting system Liverpool loved it as well

He was brilliant when we signed him, but those knee injuries have clearly taken their toll. A new left-back should be an immediate priority.

Cancelo could be a decent option against weaker opponents but Ake would be my preference (assuming we don’t sign a left back this window) against stronger sides. Unfortunately, the injury seems to have taken away Mendy’s strengths.

Attacking full back first and foremost

Grimaldo, Tagliafico, Telles, Max Clark, Wijndal.... Can pick from so many... But we are okay with Mendy. None of those (aside maybe Tagliafico or Wijndal) would cost a lot.
