Is life mapped out for us

Conversely it could be argued that life being mapped out is a life we have no control over therefore is devoid of meaning.

It could but it's not even a possibility of being mapped out.

As for meaning? It's what we make it. There is no great plan. No god or gids guiding us or awaiting our arrival at some pearly gate destination.

These are fairytales we tell feeble minds to help them deal with death.

It is untold billions to one each and every being on the planet us here. Marvel in that, let that give life meaning. Be kind, be good, love your family work hard and don't be a nazi.

It doesn't need a plan to be mapped out mate. You throw a pack of cards on the floor and it's all random but if you cover your eyes so you can only see 10 cards, it doesn't mean the other cards are not there. They are, just like the future is already "there", but we just cannot see it yet.

Sorry chippy that's bollocks. :)

Definitely some confusion in this thread about determinism and fatalism. We're all part of the causal chain, but the fact that we don't know what will happen next, or how it will end, does not give us free will or free choices, nor does it make things meaningless.
Also, the word 'random' really shouldn't be used. In reality, there is only cause and effect.

I have reached the conclusion that there is no definitive answer here.

Nobody is wrong and nobody is right.

The old adage about certain things the only guarantee in this world, is true.

We know there is a start (of sorts for the unfortunate), but we know there's a absolute end.

What happens in between is down to what we do with that time, predetermined or not.

It doesn't matter if we bob along, can see snippets or throw up your hands in futility at life; just keep going.

What gets me is the arguments we all get in to over something we have pretty much no influence over: City
