Is mancini a great manager?

I wouldnt say he was a great manager now but when he has been at City 5 years and won the champions league i would say yes sir he is.

A good manager but not great.

1. Players don't seem to improve under him.
2. His man management leaves a lot to be desired.
3. Tactically he is questionable especially subs.
4. The vast majority of wins this season have just been us going for broke and hoping someone drags us out the shit.

I'd argue the first point. Imho only Balo and kolarov have failed to get better as footballers.
I agree with points 2-4 to an extent but he can improve he's still a young manager who's very passionate. I think platt and Kidd could do more to help him out.

I don't neccesarily agree with all your points, but I'd add to this the following: Mancini has had several t-windows and have spent a fortune on players HE wants. Still, if we loose one of them, like Yaya or Kompany, we are all the sudden reduced to a not so strong side.
No other great team in the world is that dependent on one player. Don't use Messi and Barcelona as an exception as 1) they would still be a very good team, and 2) Messi is unreal.

That aspect troubles me a bit. Just look how Ferguson for example manages to play a XI with a bunch of reserves and still play the same as always, and usually end up with three points.

We shouldn't be as vulnerable to certain players going m.i.a. and I think this would be down the the manager.

Good on the basis that he has won things in his career and builds a good squad (regardless of money). How can you say the points I have given are not valid?

Does Kolarov get enough games to improve? and what constitutes as improvement for Kolarov?

have you seen Balotelli play CF for Italy? I'd say he improved as a player, just not for us.

If he had such glaring weaknesses he wouldn't have won things in his career

1 I would argue certain players have improved while he has been here
2 If his man management is so bad how did we win the league last year if the players werent playing for him, i dont believe all the shit i read in the papers
3 Just because you find him tactically poor doesnt make it so, maybe as a fan you dont understand the reasons why he makes certain substitutions
4 If going for it is a weakness when behind should he then not go for it in your view, does the battering of many teams last season not count for anything? just judge him on a slow start? the same players as last season under par maybe they should be in the equation as well
