Is now the time to consider Mancini's tenure at the club

I sincerely hope we don't use Chelsea as a guide to what we should do.

Amen.

They fluked through the CL with their assistant manager, they've drafted in an interim who's been sacked from his last two positions. Their treatment of Mourinho, AVB, De Matteo etc means they're now in a position where any manger heading in the right direction will probably considered swerving the club...

...Unless they don't give a fuck about their career and fancy a a quick few million in redundancies.

Definitely not a blueprint we should be replicating.

Finishing 6th didn't matter though due to winning the chumps.

No doubt they will win the Capital Cup and finish top 4 this season.

Silverware every year isn't something to be sniffed at.

But would they have done better with a more sensible approach. I think they would have.

Cup wins are great, will never be upset winning silverware. But the league is the bread and butter, and for three or four years now Chelsea players have kicked themselves out of league contention because they know they have the power to get a manager sacked.

1 league title in 6 years, soon to be 7. No amount of cup wins makes that a good outcome for a club like Chelsea.

We are taking a more sensible approach though aren't we? We've only sacked one manager since the new owner took over, quite controversial at the time, but now almost no-one disputes that it was a good decision.

Yes we are. And I hope we continue to do it our way, and not Romans.

I'm sure we will, but the point I'm making is that sacking a manager and replacing him with a better one, even if it may be a controversial decision at the time, doesn't mean we're turning into Chelsea.

I'm not saying it does, in a way the Chelsea debate needs to be separated from the Mancini debate because they are two totally separate things.

But people are championing what Chelsea have done with their managers, to me no amount of silverware justifies what has for the last 6/7 years been a destructive approach that will have a negative effect on Chelsea for years to come.

Just had a look then:

Tevez 1 from his last 8
Aguero 1 from his last 8
Dzeko 1 from his last 13
Mario 1 from his last 11

No wonder we played Lescott up front. ;)

my point exactly fans can flap all they want about a new manager but he is not at fault for what is one of the most lethal strike force's in europe not scoring the goals......

nobody can really disagree with them facts moomba you have posted it is by far the manager but our strikers fault that have put us in the position we are in.

we have dominated so many games and all strikers have had so many goal scoring opportunity's yet we seem to have a 188 page thread mostly blaming the manager.

yes mancini has his faults especially when it comes to Europe but at this moment all i see is a world class front line hitting everything but the back of the net!

lee i could disagree with you more. its the manager who buys the players to fit the way he wants his team to play. its the manager who decides what system to play.

we have the best team in the league with the best group of strikers and midfield and bob hasnt worked out how to breakdown an 11 man defense. our movement from the defense to the edge of the oppositions box must be the slowest in the prem.

dont get me wrong i agree on your points and the manager has the biggest responsibility for what ever the results but i am seeing far to many to lay it all down to mancini and that is just not the case in my opinion as the forward players we have should have been able to win us many more games than we have so far this season.

maybe mancini isnt getting enough out of the players as he should lets hope he finds a solution fast other wise we will end up being second best!

Nobody wants Mancini sacked
Woah... There at least 5 who have posted on this thread that want exactly that!

They don't in their heart of hearts, it's just knee jerky stuff born out of frustration. Everybody loves what Mancini has done for us. Watch the Premiership Years 11/12 on Sky and try not to shed a tear. The 6-1, the last game, the mind games. We all just want a return to that kind of form again.

In fairness to them, Mancini does make some very overly devising decisions that do make you wonder how much better a more 'sensible' manager would do things. He over thinks things too much and makes a rod for his own back in times like this.

In their heart of hearts, trust me, we do. Not necessarily now. But the belief amongst some of us is that Mancini is not good enough to take us to the next level.

I love what Shiekh Mansour has done for us, yes. What Mancini has done is nothing more than can be expected from a semi-competent manager who has been given more money to spend than probably any manager in the same time frame in the history of sport.

Your last paragraph is right, and that's one of the many reasons why we need a better manager.
