Is nuclear war inevitable?

Nuclear war is not inevitable dictators like Putin will be taken out by a hit man before they press the red button all over the Nuclear world China Nth Korea. will be ready hit men before they give an order makes sense to have people in place

I’m not worried adults are selfish but the younger generation are trying to pressure us over killing the planet

A great generation growing up to value their future home have faith. I’m starting with a little a scooter

Perhaps we'll make first contact with an intelligent peaceful alien species and see the error of our ways!
That's the thing isn't it, wars are always started by a handful of moronic twats. Normal people who have families & jobs don't want wars, this has always freaked me out how so few can cause human death & misery to millions.
Somebody on here mentioned nuking Russia. So kill millions of families, women & children when they didn't start this shit in Ukraine. Putin did.
The average Russian doesn't want war and couldn't give a fuck whether Ukraine in independent or not.
I have a good friend who lived in Moscow until recently, he has a young family and has fleed the country as he doesn't want to be called to to die in the Ukraine and leave his wife and kids husband & fatherless.
It's shit what he's had to go through to get his family out of his homeland. All because of a warmonger.

I think a nuclear accident is inevitable which will result in a nuclear exchange. More likely Pakistan/India because of proximity - less time to make a decision to retaliate (or not)

But the point is human species have only been on the planet a few million years, modern humans only 100 - 250 000 years. Proper Johnnie come latelys. Perhaps we'll make first contact with an intelligent peaceful alien species and see the error of our ways!

On the other hand they could be as feral as us and just say, “This species is a waste of time. Wipe it out.” !

As a child of the 80s I was scared shitless by a drama called Threads simulating an attack on Sheffield. It's the proper stuff of nightmares.

The only people who have nuclear weapons are a select group of countries. These weapons work in a similar way to the nuclear weapons used on Japan, but orders of magnitude more powerful.

The principle of mutually assured destruction still stands I think. They are last gasp apocalyptic weapons with very secure command and control systems.

The real worry is material be used to make a so called dirty bomb, with radioactive materials placed around an explosive conventional core. A very crude device but would cause much terror. Even these wouldn't cause a nuclear winter though.

There was something on C4 a few years back about a destructive solar flare wiping out electronic and power systems. Within a day food supply chains had collapsed and people were killing for supplies. A major solar event is long overdue, think the last one was in victorian times.

Also, the Earth's magnetic field has a habit of reversing every few million years. Again the effects would be as bad as the solar flares.....

Then there's asteroids.........

Mind you there have been massive extinction events throughout history, and life has survived. These may have been caused by seismic activity, climate change, the rags and dippers.......

Klatu barrada necto......

Nuclear war isn't something I particularly fear, not from the major players.

My concern is that world instability will come from Trump returning to the White House and for the life of me, I cannot understand how any person with half a brain cell could vote for him.

We have major issues with Ukraine, Gaza and Taiwan, but for me, the reelection of Trump tops them all.

For the life of me, I cannot comprehend how or why the world seems to have become a much more dangerous and chaotic place, since he was booted out.

I think its inevitable. Its why there's no life in the universe other than us.

I also feel so blessed to have lived during this period of relative peace and harmony. The new generation seem (On the whole) ready and spoiling for war. They're welcome to it.

Jesus Christ…. Threads.

If anybody ever comes to you and asks what the word “bleak” means, just make them watch that film.

Because of that film I always said to my wife, if nuclear war starts I’m locking her in the car and getting us as close to where the bomb drops as possible. I’d be doing us a favour.
