Shay is unquestionably a fantastic shot stopper! FACT!

but....

A keeper plays a massive part in organising a back line... particularly at set peices.

Since Shay came into the team wwe have looked shambolic defensivly... een the collossus that is Richard Dunne, looked shakey in front of Given last season.

Defense was for a long time our strength... this coincided with a string of former world class keepers in goal.. Schmichel, Seaman, James etc.

Shay came from Newcastle... a team also renouned for shambolic defending... particularly at set pieces!

coincedence?????

(TIN HAT ON!)

without given the derby score would of been 7-3

so go on you muppet

Little harsh isn't it? He's only asking for opinions!

To be fair, I see where you're coming from, but I think in all honesty, if you don't have a keeper that comes off his line, you want a defence that can win headers for fun. That's something that our management should have looked at as we've never really done it. We knew what we were getting with Shay before we signed him so that should have been looked at.

Shay is world class, but i see where youre coming from and i think that the fact that he never comes to catch/punch the ball is why we're conceding so many goals from set pieces

Course is place is a Given he's the best keeper in the league fuck knows where we would have been this season without him.

As for the tin hat you should be wearing that for mentioning David Seaman

I used to enjoy seeing Seaman in the box.

He doesnt command his area though does he so uncertainty in defenders decision making as to is he or isnt he coming to get the ball!

Heard a comment from Mancini that he hoped his keeper would catch the ball when Delap takes his long throw ins!!!!
