Is the Champions League worth it?

Of course the UCL is worth it, thats how you get the best players in the world to join your club!
Not if it affects your League form to the extent that you don't qualify for the Champions League the next season

Bayern are the best and I admire your team a lot, but you do have a big advantage in that the Bundesliga is nowhere near as competitive as the Premiership.

You also don't have to deal with the farcical seeding system which means that teams like Utd, and Arsenal and Bayern get virtual byes all the way through to the last 16 by being drawn against teams like Plzen and CSKA who are cannon fodder. This time we got lucky, but for 2 years running we faced groups of death.

Wining the Football League or the Premiership is the first target of every English based football fan. It's what dreams are about.
Its not like Bayern can afford to drop points in the BuLi with Bvb on their tails and for the seeding system, i do agree it has its flaws. But it is based of consistency in European competition so all a team has to do is consistently perform like Arsenal, Benfica or Porto. Its not like you have to win the UCL to be a higher seed....

All the talk about injuries and rotation, I'm just wondering whether the cost paid in injuries to players like Nastasic, Silva and Fernandinho is worth it when we're very likely going out in the last 16 anyway.

Going off the attendances and thoughts of most City fans I know, the Premiership is far more important

funny you should say that about injuries, we were screaming for pelli to get silva off once we'd beat Moscow. too late was the cry.

its important to the owners that's for sure, personaly I think its an over hyped pile of shit , bent as fuck & I`m furious that we seem to be prioritising this above our league games. if we get to the quarter finals & finish 5th will Pellegrini get a pat on the back ? Failure in my eyes.

The CL isn't an optional extra. It goes with the territory for a club with major aspirations. The money and the emphasis that is placed on it by top players means we have to take it as seriously as the PL.

I have grown up in the CL era and for me the European Cup is the be all and all.
Other way round for me.

Winning in the Premiership is the be all and end all for me. I'd instantly trade our wins in Europe for 3 more points in the League
touche

I beg to differ

I know for most of you the PL is the most important trophy City can win, but for fans of the club that live outside of Europe (I would dare to say outside England), the Champions is the biggest tournament a club can possibly win.

ESL, sorry for any mistake

Me being a fan of the Gooners, I think I could give a good insight into this, as we apparently fight for that lucrative CL spot season in/out lol ...

is it worth it to the fans? No.
I would swap a CL appearance for a PL title any day of the week. What's the point of not going all out to win your domestic league so you can appear in this so called ultimate competition if you're, honestly speaking, not really going to challenge to win it. Give me a PL trophy, as that shows achievement. The best league in the world. 38 games played and you came out on top. That is an amazing achievement for me.

to the club? Yes.
Money. The attraction of foreign "superstars". More money. TV rights.

I would prefer a PL trophy so much than continuous qualification to CL - how I envy you city supporters!
