Is the club going to put in an official complaint about the officiating on Saturday?

The shot was off before the challenge. In relative terms, way before.

It’s Monday now though and I’d talked about this during the game. Like arseholes though, we’ve all got opinions, and fair enough if that’s yours. Not going to row about it.
I’m not rowing about it I’m just staggered by your view, as you may be with mine. I try and be unbiased but the lunge on Phil was a goal wherever it took place, including the area, IMHO of course

Edit I was there on Saturday and couldn’t watch it back yesterday. Out of interest did you also not think their winner was offside? I’ve not seen the alleged handball back yet

My quote at the time was along the lines of he was fucking offside as fuck.

I’m not staggered by your view, it’s simply just your view. I can see it from both ways, but for me if a shot is already released but a foul comes after, I can’t see how a penalty can be given. I can see how it would be given as a foul in any other area of the pitch, but in the box it has to be different in that unique scenario. The defender got lucky.

Obviously!
It must come as a hell of a shock to newly appointed PL refs who have spent there entire careers being the best at applying the rules of the game to arrive at the pinnacle of the sport and find out it's all corrupt against one specific team. Who is it that pulls them to one side and informs them by the way?

Corruption works best when nobody says anything but you notice you don’t get big games or you get hounded by the media for decisions involving certain clubs. Just look at the difference in coverage between incidents in the last 3 premier league games involving City. Human behaviour learns very quickly situations that are rewarded.

Where is the rule that a foul isn’t a penalty when this happens ?

Its simple although maybe not official. You take someone out on the halfway line you take him out of the game for a period of time. The ball is in play.

In the penalty box you shoot then get fouled the ball is out of touch. The tackle in itself has not affected anything in play.

The common sense solution is yellow card and a dead ball kick.

As for the thread title fuck me its small time and embarrassing, we ain't candlepool.

People dont care much for common sense.

They should absolutely be doing it IMO - this wouldn't be dipperesque sour grapes (one thing that doesn't go their way in amongst a sea of favourable decisions), city were thoroughly shafted on Saturday and it needs highlighting and forced into the media. It won't change the result, but it might make the cheating twats be not so so brazen in future matches.
I agree, we should absolutely be filing some form of formal complaint. The officiating in the match was nothing short of corrupt. Unfortunately, I don't believe it will amount to any changes going forward.

Personally, I take issue with Blues who love to say we didn't "deserve" to win anyway every time this kind of shit happens. WTF does that even mean. That in a sport predicated on the slimmest of margins we should be so much better than our opponents that we should be able to overcome blatantly bad refereeing decisions regardless? That's absolute BS and actually an arrogant stance to take. When offside goals are awarded and penalties are disregarded we're being fucked. The fact that we missed numerous opportunities is not an excuse for referees to add to our misery and, therefore, by extension we do not "deserve" to win. I DESPISE that narrative. One can be upset with our not being clinical and still be disgusted and disappointed with that ridiculous performance from the match officials.

It wasn't three, it was around ten
In addition to the three you've mentioned, there were numerous border line yellow card fouls committed by Newcastle and not only were no yellow cards shown for any, the bent bastard didn't even give a yellow for persistent fouling
Joelinton's gratuitous foul on Bernardo not resulting in a yellow was insane.

'I feel embarrassed and ashamed' - Guardiola apologises to cameraman after confrontation.

Guy makes a beeline for Pep to shove a camera in his face to antagonise him and Pep's saying sorry. You'll be waiting a long time to get the club sticking up for itself.
Pep publicly flogged himself and the media's response was to pile on...as if with everything that went on in that game Pep grabbing that guy's camera was the most pertinent event. What more needs to be said...

This is focussing on the aspect of our play which had an impact upon the outcome, but is clearly not the entire reason(s) for concern about the events surrounding the outcome.

Your explanation is far too simplistic and simply ignores other very important points from posters.

I think most of our supporters would " take it on the chin" as a poor performance from the team, if the performance/decisions of the referee and VAR weren't both serious and critical in affecting the outcome.

There are too many poor /unsubstantiated / poorly explained and dismissed decisions from officials which have the overall effect of "distorting" the events which take place on the pitch.

Referees and VAR operators are not infallible, and the reasons quoted for their decisions quoted by media etc are used as a smokescreen for inept performances or much more sinister reasons
Var is shite, its just another layer of incompetence. I would rather the ref just made his decision and that's it like it used to be. We gained last week when Liverpool had one struck off for nothing. Both decisions at Newcastle were marginal. Once you get your shot off refs rarely give you a penalty. And the offside uses technology so you got to go with the tech as it effects everyone the same.

According to an article on VAR on the BBC he was offside but not really!

The new technology was supposed to clear this all up. Gone were the manually drawn lines placed onto a TV picture, replaced with a slick animation. But that has not always been the case.

Much of it is about the little known tolerance level, or margin for error, added to the technology in the Premier League.

In every other competition, offside is given to the millimetre; in the Premier League there is 5cm grace which is effectively the width of the green line. Gudmundsson is given onside because his foot is within it.

Guimaraes, too, was just ahead of Dias but within the tolerance level.

So there we have it, PL gives a 5cm tolerance level and whilst Guimaraes was offside he wasn't offside enough!
Of course the Prem would leave themselves some subjective wiggle room so they can manipulate a definitive outcome...

I played basketball through college. Fouls are fouls. If I got fouled after a shot, the foul is still called. The penalty for the foul might not be free throws. I’d say for this instance. We should have an indirect free kick at the spot of the foul if it’s not a penalty.

Re the Foden penalty, it is obvious that Foden changed his mind on how to take the shot for his own safety. He started to go with the inside of his left foot but decided wisely not to. If Foden goes for that shot with the inside of his left foot, he ends up taking his left foot home in a carrier bag.
