Is the football bubble finally about to burst?

Christ. I miss football tremendously. Honestly astounded by the amount of people that seemingly don’t give a fuck about it and aren’t particularly arsed about ever watching City again.

Are you still away?

I honestly think (and pardon me for thinking for you! Feel free to disagree!) if you were here and going week in week out, the PITA of changing all your weekend plans around a game of VAR, rushing home from work, throwing tea down your neck and rushing back out for a game of VAR, all the while being stung out of your arse for the pleasure...you'd feel differently.

Me personally, I couldn't tell you the last time I watched a non-City game, or watched MOTD, or read a report on football, because I know it's all contrived, agenda-driven bullshit. Again, we're all paying for the pleasure.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this and the best way I can describe it is I still have love for City and I think I always will. I go to my wardrobe and see the 2 home and away shirts I’ve got and I feel real love and pride for the shirt, the badge and what they always meant to me,especially in the miserable years.
But I don’t feel that love for watching football now and haven’t for some time if I’m honest. To be fair a lot of that is due to me being utterly priced out of watching it; I earn around minimum wage and have never had the sports channels or bet able to go to a game since Main Road days. Not being able to watch live games has made me bitter if I’m honest, bitter that I’m not wealthy enough to see my team (or other games I’d like to see).
I know it will never happen but I’d love to be able to just rock up at the ground like the old days and queue at the turnstiles but too many people are making fantastic amounts of money from the game now for things to change.
The season will have to be finished in some form just so the clubs don’t have to pay back the tv money they got from it. At the end of the day it’s all about the money.

Sorry to hear that. Plenty in the same boat and I hope it does work out cheaper for the likes of yourself.

good news is sky won’t be asking PL clubs back for their money this season according to reports

Spot on , a few years ago i watched non City games on the box , now i dont bother at all , always thought the game being fixed was for the tin foil hat brigade ,but ive just made one out of bacofoil , football is worth billions and billions and were there is money there are crooks and................... football agents.

I only ever did Sevilla away which was a bittersweet trip. I was in the Irish bar that got attacked by Sevilla fans and was watching my back for the rest of the trip. I never did another which I now regret. Even if I didn’t get a ticket then I’d certainly fancy Munich or somewhere.

No wonder you were scared in moss side. Not streetwise. When on european tour, choose local bars, with local people, NOT irish bars. -)

I’m from farming stock in Pembrokeshire, South Wales. There were more sheep than people.

Have you been to Seville? The only places for a pint were the Irish pubs (like Malaga was when I holidayed there) as the Spanish don’t share our drinking culture. I also thought it was safety in numbers...

You’re talking to someone who has had to contend with Serbia, Georgia, Albania, Hungary and Azerbaijan in recent years. Serbia aside where policing was heavy handed, it’s been fine. We’ve not been attacked by scum.

Yes mate, have a place in Andulucia, 20 years. Love Seville, and Granada and Cordoba.
I didn't go to the Seville game but warned my brother where not to go.I had feeling there would be a bit of trouble. Some poor immigrant areas in both Seville and Granada
The Spanish do have a drinking culture. Slightly different is the fact that they don't get arseholed before a football match. But believe me they like a drink just as much as we do.
I only replied, as a little joke in troubled times, and you did begin your post, ""I only did ", And I miscomprehended.
Myself , when watching City away, I usually do quite a bit of homework, to locate places of interest to eat and drink.
Seville has some brilliant tapas bars, granted not for large groups of football fans, but I don't like Herds (Not a pop at your farming background).
To me Irish bars in Continental europe are not attractive. In fact Spain as a whole has had a surge in real ale popularity, and micro breweries. Hasta luego amigo. )

Still away and no not at all. I’ve not missed a game (home or away since I moved out here). There was a close call a few years back when we played away in the cup and it wasn’t televised but some fan broadcast it on periscope.

My entire week is still based around football and I still cancel meetings that coincide with City games. Excepting family, there’s nothing I miss more than watching City home and away.

You are probably right. Some will sack it. Some due to money issues, others because the addiction was broken.
I just think the reasons why people went before will continue afterwards.
As for the money involved, maybe we will see a slight drop for a while. But like any arms race/war, it won't take long for people to forget and carry on as before.
Maybe the broadcasters will get cold feet when the next round of bidding starts. That in itself may cause a sea-change.
The real test for people posting that they are sacking it will be when the football starts again.

Most of the traditional broadcasters are struggling to survive so unless firms like Netflix or Amazon get involved there will be a collapse in TV income. The same is true of sponsorship revenues so all clubs will have to survive on much lower revenues. That means players will have to accept much lower incomes whether they like it or not.
The current business model for football has been shattered. The sport will have to be re-built with new models and new structures. Organisations like UEFA and FIFA will be under threat. International travel will be difficult and expensive for years so the CL will lose the half-and-half scarf brigade and lots of corporate revenue. It doesn't mean the end of football but I believe it will be unrecognisable from its current form. Some of the changes could be positive ones.

The thing that really stands out is rags, dippers and arse followers don’t think like the rest of us supporters, not just City but other clubs too.
They’re not remotely interested in the game dying lower down the pyramid. They don’t care that their clubs are nothing more than cash cows/ click bait to all sectors of the cesspit that masquerades as the British media.
We all know how much they all hate City. For them change is not good. Chelsea seem immune now, as they once suffered with the bile that we’re now subjected to every day. Spurs seem to be being welcomed into the gang too. It’s interesting that Spurs have now backtracked on the whole furlough fiasco.
If, what has already been mentioned on here is true regarding transfer bans would be incoming for clubs who use the furlough then something really is rotten within the game.
We’re probably going to get the blame because it was us (allegedly) who single-handed inflated everything from transfer fees, to players wages through to growing the grass on the pitch too long (well we have been!)
These last few days have been cathartic for me. I have watched too much television, bit of a Martin Compston - on a thon to be honest! Nothing football related whatsoever.
I am starting to miss it. Think I have spat my dummy out due to us having a ‘crap’ season - yes not winning at a canter is pissing me off.
If the season is to start again, though it’s irrelevant at the moment as a thing whilst thousands are dying, the skip rats are champions fact. If we’re banned so be it.
Without a dream in my heart never seemed so apt.
